It's hard to believe that it will be exactly two years ago since we launched our beloved label. It really has flown by in the blink of an eye. And so, to mark the occasion of 24 successful months in business, we bring you release number 24. You could call it OCD behaviour but we like to think of it as symmetry ;-)

Step forward Mr Jaap Ligthart, a Dutchman who has been on our radar for some time now with a number of fantastic edits and reworkings but is now making the natural transition into original productions. Together with Ms. Alice Rose, a vocalist who's pass credits include guesting on tracks for the likes of Gabriel Ananda and Eagles & Butterflies, they've created something rather special. 

‘I Know Change’ is a sensuous piece of work. Deep House in the very real sense of the phrase. 
And that is something that our remixers on this project have truly understood. Both Him Self Her and Show-B have delivered exquisite interpretations that give the whole package an overriding sense of class and quality. 

Him Self Her keep things deep and moody with a restrained, atmospheric, sophisticated piece of work, whilst Show-B heads into slightly tougher territory encapsulated by some distinctive rollercoaster percussion effects that have already seen Ame, Dixon, Sasha, Mano Le Tough & Adratique showing their support. And if all that wasn’t enough, they both deliver vocal free dubs too! 

So then, just to recap, it’s hotter than Megan Fox in Agent Provocateur and cooler than a Polar Bear’s toenails. What’s not to like?

Dutch duo Esteble aka Joep Esseling & Bram Harmsen made their first Anjunadeep appearance with ‘Passage’, the opening track to last Autumn’s iTunes Dance #1 compilation ‘Anjunadeep 07’. ‘Passage’ now sees a release on the pair’s full label debut, the diverse ‘Feathers EP’ featuring four tracks showcasing their intricate composition and deft melodic touch.

The EP opens with ‘Feathers’ a brooding electronic gem, weaving delicate melodies with clever instrumentalism, above a warm textured bassline. ‘Passage’ is a fine example of the duo’s raw organic sound, a skilled soundscape layering soft melodies with natural elements.

Next up ‘The Walk’, an upbeat cinematic groover with as much dynamism as the title would suggest. Closing off the EP ‘Soaring’ is a more dance floor minded production with a stripped back feel combining slick percussive elements with interspersed arpeggios.

A few months in and TAU, the label helmed by Adana Twins, is in the groove. Launched in August 2018, the outlet has given the Hamburg duo a chance to flex their A&R muscles, curating releases that showcase more established artists alongside up and coming talents, while allowing them to fully explore their own tastes.
TAU004 shines a light on Amberoom, a German trio comprised Manuel Tur, Adrian Hoffmann and Ramin Nouyan. The three men produce won- derfully warm, soulful, nourishing compositions which have already court favour with the Innervisions crew - their killer track ‘Kastell’ released on the much-respected ‘Secret Weapons 11’ compilation, and Dixon added his own “Retouch”. Veteran producer isolée steps up for remix duties on this one, too, making this an essential three-tracker.
The EP kicks off with ‘Tulu’ a stirring cut punctuated by a wistful male vocal complemented by a harmonious, yet sombre low end. Delicate twin- kles and emotive strings add depth as the track tugs on your heartstrings. This is a lush, measured composition with excellent programming on its organic-sounding drums and a contemplative atmosphere throughout.
Next up is the title track, ‘Jazire’, which picks up the pace immediately. A contagious 4x4 beat forms the foundation of this rousing number, which builds steadily into a cacophony of tribal-esque effects; shakers reverberating next to mysterious sounds that echo in and out of the back- ground. A melancholy melody gives this track extra emotional density, while the tension builds and subsides intermittently and the beat keeps those hips moving.
Lastly, isolée’s reinterpretation of the title track utilises a more traditional house motif, emphasising the shadowy atmospherics and injecting a more insistent beat. As the 4x4 rhythm pumps along, he adds clicks and skipping toms - pushing the energy levels up a notch. A dark, eerie tone pervades and isolée retains the sorrowful refrain from the original to complement his dour synth riff.
Adana Twins keep the standards high as TAU continues to impress with another exemplary release.

Munich's Benjamin Fröhlich, co-founder of the Permanent Vacation label, takes his turn on one of the most influential tracks in electronic music: "How Much Are They?"

Originally released in 1981 on the album “Full Circle”, "How Much Are They?" is a genre defying collaboration between Dub wizard Jah Wobble and Can's Jaki Liebezeit and Holger Czukay. With the combination of Dub elements, punk bassline and drum machine percussion the track is a blueprint for electronic music and ahead of its time in many ways. No surprise, it quickly became a staple in clubs from New York to Berlin.

Through the years the track was a big inspiration for Benjamin. His careful cover version updates "How much are They" for today's dancefloors, while maintaining the original atmosphere. Originally his version was part of LAGASTA's 10-year anniversary compilation. Now it gets the official release and finds the perfect home in Glasgow's Optimo Music imprint backed up with two remixes by Chicken Lips and Daniel Bortz. 

Andrew Meecham and  Dean Meredith revive their Chicken Lips moniker, that was responsible for a whole movement of Disco-Dub in the early to mid 2000's, and prove that they haven't lost any of the magic. German wonder boy Daniel Bortz reinvents himself and comes up with a heavy bass-driven version that sits somewhere between Jungle, Dub and early Techno. Ok, let's go!
