The latest release by the Mexican avant-garde label Akumandra is founder Sainte Vie’s three track auditive voyage: From Desolate Places and Forgotten Times. Going beyond previous experimentation with sound assemblage and sampling from non-western musical traditions, Sainte Vie crafts his signature mesmerizing soundscapes by combining dreamlike synth textures, monumental drops and vibrant melodies that feel deeply melancholic. Insistent arpeggios and expansive build ups bind the tracks together in an ebb and flow of dynamic energy.

High Seas 
Overlaid synth patterns, like waves, propel us into a mixed-percussion drop that settles on a harmonic calm before another surge of synth arpeggios drive us farther along into the thrilling sensation of voyage.

Whale
Disembodied vocals, like cetaceans communicating, echo each other, creating a ghostly undercurrent to the vigorous percussion and futuristic synth arpeggios.

Darko
Backed by an eerie melody and punctuated by a lead-heavy bass drum, a deep, guttural voice plunges us into the dark flow of time.

Spectral in theme and profoundly engaged with the sensorial quality of music, Sainte Vie’s EP transports the listener to a place that feels distant like uncharted waters, yet familiar like a memory.

Saint Is debut on Frankey & Sandrino’s Sum Over Histories label with ‘Something In Common EP’, featuring vocalists like Ukraine’s Sergi Yaro and Argentina’s Juan Hansen. Continuing to develop Sum Over Histories’s successful catalogue of releases by investing in rising talent, Frankey & Sandrino now enlist emerging duo Saint Is who deliver an eclectic four-tracker that draws on and pursues the distinguished musical history of the label’s past releases, following artists like Lazaros, Tlak, Kris Davis, and Impérieux. 

‘Dancing In The Rain ft. Sergi Yaro’ takes a romantic flow with a solid guitar riff, snappy claps, an up-front bassline and Sergi's rough yet vulnerable voice which are all interplay between a melodic transcendence.

Our premiere today - ‘Indana’ - raises the energy with smooth analog kicks, chattering percussion, emotional strings and flirting arp stabs, before ‘Something In Common ft. Juan Hansen’ grabs your attention with stripped back keys, subtle drums, haunting vocal work and an evolving synth-bass pattern. 

Finally, ‘The Phact’ takes a retro-vibe with distorted electric guitars, saturated snares, smooth low-end frequencies and nostalgia effects.

Milan-born DJ and producer Auggië teamed up with Enrico Sturm to produce Vrasnavar, a genre-bending, time-signature-defying analogue extravaganza. The track begins with a simple three chord guitar rhythm, but Auggië spurns all expectations with sudden, off-beat drums and clattering percussion, taking the listener on an erratic journey that’s both simplistic and complex at the same time. Eery violins and high-pitched synths pierce through the discord making the perfect soundtrack to a haunted house tour and a production that’ll make you feel lost, then found, then lost again.
