Having released the highly acclaimed Rivers/Tokyo ASMR on Crosstown Rebels last year, Berlin’s Emanuel Satie returns to the label this March with the powerful Personal Liberation EP, showcasing the deep and emotive characteristics that Emanuel brings to his accomplished productions. 

Tribal-esque percussion leads the way in title track Personal Liberation, progressing with haunting synths, dramatic keys and a hypnotising vocal. A track that subtly builds throughout, Keys to Jupiter is a moody yet blissful cut of electronic excellence, enhanced with divine piano keys. Last up, Somewhere Else In Time is a trippy and robotic number with break-beat style percussion and stirring synths.

"I started to make the tracks before we knew what Corona even was, but they strangely forecasted the way I was going to feel during this year in lockdown. On the title track, Nanghiti’s vocals demand you to connect with who you really are, just like the pandemic and it’s isolation and lockdowns did, and celebrates that moment of triumph. Keys To Jupiter is a track I made with the Australian pianist Niko Haropoulos, trying to make a dancefloor track as least-dancefloor sounding as possible and letting the world of classical piano collide with electronic sounds. Following a stellar breakthrough year in 2016 with several big releases, Emanuel Satie has been on the rise ever since. Notably his 2018 Don’t Forget To Go Home summer anthem was unquestionably one of the tracks of the Ibiza season and beyond. In 2019 Satie followed up by delivering the enormous Planet XXX on Cocoon Recordings, which was supported all summer by Sven Vath, Dixon, Guy Gerber, Patrice Baumel, &ME and many more, so it was only natural that Sven would welcome him into the Cocoon family by signing him to the Cocoon Agency. Emanuel’s career so far has been littered with successes, including a Beatport #1, several tracks in Resident Advisor’s most charted tracks of the year lists and the “Best Producer Award“ at the Ibiza DJ Awards.

Thales Boutroumlis represents the fresh new guard of tech house. The teenager from Cologne follows up his debut of last year on EIN2 with a two tracker for the venerable Poker Flat Recordings. For one so young, Boutroumlis shows a great deal of maturity in his productions. 

Title track 'Perpetual' is an elegant and slinky tech house burner - a shuffling groove is matched with sly and crafty synth work, while the arrangement shows a strong sense of dance floor dynamics. 

'Aether', produced alongside Tantum, heads in a deeper and darker direction - bringing out an edge and attitude that will go over big with the dancers. A bubbling acid bassline drives the drama, while pads give the track a sense of space, before dropping once more into the killer groove.

Poker Flat label boss Steve Bug connects with one of Spain’s most inspirational producers and DJs - Uner. The results, predictably, are dancefloor gold. 
Mantis on the Moon slips into its groove from the very start, an insistent beat matched with swingy percussion. The track takes its time but slowly builds into a Minimal / Deep Tech monster over the course of the seven and a half minutes. 
The Swiss pair Animal Trainer pick up the challenge with their remix - a shimmering, melodic rework with a huge drop take that will inspire some chaotic moments on many dancefloors.

Exclusive Saint Is feat. Juan Hansen 'Something In Common'

As DJs Frankey & Sandrino are used to scour platforms or infinite emails/ messages through music that fits their sets and fulfills the duo's musical demands. A recurring task the both benefit from when it comes to finding new music and artists for their label Sum Over Histories. For the label's third installment of this year Sandrino and Frankey have digged up newly founded duo Saint Is, who deliver an eclectic four-tracker called 'Something In Common' that draws on and pursues the musical history of the past six releases. 

The EP's title track 'Something In Common' is a prolific collaboration between Saint Is and Argentinian singer Juan Hansen, whose softly and sweetly whispered vocals add a profoundness and grief to the overally tender held bass line and pads, which still offer enough space for the spooky and edgy soundscapes to coopt the listener and transport the feeling of being torn inwardly and expressing this externally.

Saint Is' EP 'Something In Common' will be released on Sum Over Histories on November 1st, 2019.
