Copenhagen’s Nandu is a fast rising artist who imbues the idea of the smooth DJ transition into his new productions for Frankey and Sandrino's Sum Over Histories label.

After releasing his 3rd solo album 'One Man’s High Is Another Man’s Anxiety' on Connected in the fall of 2018, and with a long line of cutting edge releases on labels such as Exit Strategy, Azzur, MoBlack and Rebirth, the always atmospheric Nandu brings plenty of new perspective to house and techno. As this new EP title suggests, 'Transitions' assembles various sounds, elements and ideas for three tracks that skip back and forth between various electronic sub-genres. 

The fantastic opener unites deep soundscapes and a ravey, euphoric passage of synth work influenced by the 90s. Starting off with a bouncy bassline, a single key synth fills the high frequency space as an acid bleep brings more energy and helps the track surge into the future before finally bringing you back down again. It is truly a lesson in electronic ingenuity.

The same can be said of 'Stjerneskud', with a forward marching bass line, raw like a wooden plank, paired with melo-driven synth pads that slowly fade in and out. They make for a beautifully tasteful track that Nandu says is dedicated to his son.

Lastly, 'Found A Way' - our premiere today - emphasizes the soundscapes that 'Transitions' and 'Stjerneskud' partly hinted at. Built around multiple synth chords that create a mix of euphoria and sentimentally, Nandu implements vocoder-edited vocals before a big break, then the return of the synth-melody and the bass which carry you away.

From deep, dark and raw sounds to acid and euphoria, Nandu's three tracker offers a brief history of electronic music's many influences all smoothly blended into something new and fresh.

„Lithium" by Martin Tanner weighs in a more sci-fi leaning variation of deep, floor-functional TechHouse built on a foundation of clean cut drums and wafting background atmospheres accompanied by echoes of tribal drums and as well as a distinct, ever so slightly morphing main motif, dreamy synth layers and ocassional waves of raw vintage bass for a low end.

“Saint Is” release triumphant second EP on Sum Over Histories
Saint Is, the project of Santiago Garcia and Santiago Franch, present their second EP Before We Get Old on Sum Over Histories, the label of Frankey & Sandrino.
With their Saint Is project, the Argentinian duo harnesses their love for live performance, dreamy synths, emotive hooks and storytelling. The duo’s second release on Sum Over Histories plays with the concepts of time and youth, passion and loss, using ethereal vocals from Juan Hansen to seamlessly connect concepts and genres. With the title track, Saint Is create a yearning indie-dance anthem that feels just as appropriate closing a sold-out stadium set as it would watching a beach-side sunset. “Art Image”, meanwhile, combines siren-like synths with industrial overlays to build a narrative around impermanence, balance and urgency.
Berlin-based melodic-house producer Aera remixes “Dancing in the Rain” feat. Sergi Yaro, and sprinkles his unique, quirky and instantly-identifiable production fairy-dust over the chugging, indie house track. Dixon is a fan of the tune and has played out the remix numerous times since its release.
With the rest of the EP, Saint Is occupy a thoughtful space; a space for reflection, introspection and deep listening. It’s a change of pace for the artists, but it is this disparity that brings a sense of wisdom to Before We Get Old. The duo explores their creative depths both on and off the dance floor which makes the act of listening to this EP feel like a relief; a welcome step back from the mania of the world outside.
