“Saint Is” release triumphant second EP on Sum Over Histories
Saint Is, the project of Santiago Garcia and Santiago Franch, present their second EP Before We Get Old on Sum Over Histories, the label of Frankey & Sandrino.
With their Saint Is project, the Argentinian duo harnesses their love for live performance, dreamy synths, emotive hooks and storytelling. The duo’s second release on Sum Over Histories plays with the concepts of time and youth, passion and loss, using ethereal vocals from Juan Hansen to seamlessly connect concepts and genres. With the title track, Saint Is create a yearning indie-dance anthem that feels just as appropriate closing a sold-out stadium set as it would watching a beach-side sunset. “Art Image”, meanwhile, combines siren-like synths with industrial overlays to build a narrative around impermanence, balance and urgency.
Berlin-based melodic-house producer Aera remixes “Dancing in the Rain” feat. Sergi Yaro, and sprinkles his unique, quirky and instantly-identifiable production fairy-dust over the chugging, indie house track. Dixon is a fan of the tune and has played out the remix numerous times since its release.
With the rest of the EP, Saint Is occupy a thoughtful space; a space for reflection, introspection and deep listening. It’s a change of pace for the artists, but it is this disparity that brings a sense of wisdom to Before We Get Old. The duo explores their creative depths both on and off the dance floor which makes the act of listening to this EP feel like a relief; a welcome step back from the mania of the world outside.

There's been a lot of excellent music out recently from some of our favourite artists, which made this a difficult set to curate as I would have loved to showcase all of that incredible work being put out especially in such difficult circumstances.

This set represents some of the music on repeat for us at the moment, with some driving indie dance, crunchy breaks, vibrant acid lines, and some beautiful melodies to round it all up of course.

As of late, the Canary Islands has consistently procreated a breed of talents into the electronic
music scene and veteran DJ/producer, Alex Medina ups the ante even further with his latest
contribution to MoBlack Records. Medina’s genre-defying “Nuevos Viajes” is a passport to
multi-dimensional musical realms that showcase a delicate balance of organic and synthetic
sounds cajoling in blissful matrimony. “Waver” warms up the EP, rolling over hearty drum beats
to paddle against tides of briny synths, kinky recoils and trippy mechanized vocals. A gallant
“Crystal Voyager“ emerges, withstanding and with utmost clarity gazing, right at the curls of
tidal-sized waves, infatuated by a clean 4/4 breakbeat rhythm into swallowing poignant
synthesized string processions and intermittent digital disruptions. Medina amasses
“Momentum” gasping for air, satiating curiosity with pulsated beats and anxious rhythms,
cruising a mosaic of mystical oriental overture and syncopated synth spurts. Gloating waves on
its back, MBR410 stays afloat, ascending towards the “Blue Horizon”, savoring the scent of
earth by dovetailing tribal drums with 16 bit playfulness and high-pitched cosmic poise.
Wrapping up the 5 track journey, “Morning of the Earth”. basks in solar ecstasy with an affective
melody, palliative vocals and flickering incandescence, dreamy drifting in spiritual harmony with
forces of nature. Mingling raw house instrumentals and obscure techno elements in atmospheric
electronica, MBR410 is a sonic masterpiece, stimulating senses as it blends into the framework
of reality, simulating a boundless journey by way of emotion and a constant pursuit of joy, in
play.

Underspreche | DHI | Podcast

Underspreche are the Italian duo of Marika Della Torre and Simone Campanile. Together they produce music that deftly balances emotion and multiple world influences with a tougher edge dedicated to the dancefloor. It's easy to hear the diverse background both members have grown from in their music. Simone, a seasoned DJ and music collector for over 20 years also studied music theory with a particular emphasis on African and Indian methods of composition. Marika, raised on a diet of classical and opera music has always possessed a deep love for singing, writing and poetry. When the pair met over 10 years ago an immediate bond was formed and Underspreche was born.  Counting Keith McIvor of Optimo fame as an early admirer, the pair would begin to release music via his imprint Optimo Trax. First heard on a split 12, their EP Subterrenus would come in June of 2016 followed by their debut LP that December entitled "Invito Alla Danza”. Since then Underspreche have gone on to release music on a multitude of distinguished labels like Innervisions, Endless Flight, Correspondent and Permanent Vacation with their brand new EP entitled "Poet-Ease" dropping on Maeve this September.  For live performances Underspreche deliver what they call a hybrid set, a marriage of live synthesis and vocals with the backbone of DJing resulting in a unique and often mesmerizing experience. Always committed and honest in their approach to what they do, Underspreche are pure talent in today's electronic music landscape.
