Eagles & Butterflies  - THE TRIP

Correspondants 28th release, Polina, delivers another brooding, evocative EP for the label, this time from the Agents of Time polyhedron: a fusion of ideas and concepts that make up a single reality. The Italian trio of Andrea Di Ceglie, Fedele Ladisa, and Luigi Tutolo came together in the summer of 2013, and their inaugural album was released via Stem Records in January of the following year. The group uses both analog and digital equipment to refine their unique amalgam of progressive, techno, and ambient music.

Deadlight District is a cold, instrumental descent into a war-ravaged Russian financial zone. It opens with glitched Soviet tones and a slow, distorted kick—like distant shellfire in concrete canyons. Metallic synths rise like broken sirens, layered over industrial rhythms that echo malfunctioning escalators and flickering LED tickers. Midway, detuned piano and ghostly pads evoke the hollow grandeur of abandoned boardrooms and shattered wealth. The climax erupts in glitchy breakbeats and collapsing sonic architecture. It fades into a low-frequency hum and the whistle of wind through broken glass. Stark, cinematic, and unforgiving.

Award-winning music producer and live performer Rodriguez Jr. also known as Olivier Mateu returns to his spiritual home here at mobilee, following up from the acclaimed album “Blisss” with a brand new EP that delivers a transcendental state with such an emotion that we can honestly say is unique to this very special artist.

We are proud to present “Hydra EP”. The lead track “Hydra” immediately transports into Rodriguez Jr.’s alternate universe of swelling synths and distinctive melodies that stay in your psyche for a very long time. As with most of Olivier’s tracks, it can be enjoyed as much inside headphones for a needed escape, as in a club, or at sunrise on a Brittany mountain, where he showcased the track for the first time in his recent live stream with BOLDR. The key changes and evolving soundscape delight within any space and at every level, in a sound that is pure Rodriguez Jr., which will delight long-time fans and new alike.

Finishing the EP, “Pegasus” sets its signature with a piano trill, thrilling fans who well know Rodriguez Jr’s relationship with this instrument. Crafted in his Paris studio, rhythmic synthesisers, ethereal pads and a tender bassline join the soundscape to create the setting for a tantalising melody to take the heart strings of the listener on a special journey which is, at 7 minutes, entirely too short.

Following on from his collaboration with Eric Horstmann´s Immersive Lab and Dolby Atmos for “Blisss”, “Hydra EP” has also been re-mastered for a multi-dimensional experience. Dolby Atmos technology expands on existing surround sound sound systems by adding height channels, allowing sounds to be interpreted as three-dimensional objects. No Silence: In this track Mollono.Bass fills the aural space around the voice of singer Kuoko as if his groove was a liquid that flows around the contours of a mould. The Super Flu remix works just the other way around. First, the duo initiates a pulsating force field of bass and enigmatic hints of melody. The voice of Kuoko creates only fine ripples on the surface of the time-space-continuum, before it breaks through around the middle. Stephan Zovsky's remix of Your Smile draws a wonderful contrast to this deeply hypnotic atmosphere. As a close friend of Mollono.Bass he has a deep understanding of the melodic soul of the original, which enables him to translate this soul into his very own style in an extremely elegant way. Driven by open hi hats and the bite of the snare we're hurled into a bouncing state of collective euphoria where the corners of our mouths and our arms are pulled upwards by some sort of magnetic force.

Ringing in the new year, MoBlack Records takes its listeners on a sonic sojourn with a 10-piece
compilation by various up and coming artists from all across the globe. Composed during
unprecedented times, this eclectic mix of forward-thinking, present-focused tracks traverse not
only the vague barriers of an interconnected and equally isolated digital world, but also gray
areas within genres and subgenres that make music feel more intuitive and in the moment.
Parisian artist Notre Dame starts off the Mo’Vibes collection with his vibrant love-charged ode
’Kaneba’, followed by Swiss duo Animal Trainer cruising the humid rhythm of clear turquoise
waters and virulent currents in the ‘Verzasca’. South Africa’s Candy Man takes ‘Two Steps to
Samburu’, drenched in solar elements, in perfect complement to Spanish artist Miganova’s

motion sink in, afflicting the vestibular nerve with a sense of giddiness, ‘Vertigo’. Winding down
MoBlack’s first release of 2021, Francisco Garcia lets music speak with ethereal vibes in
‘Talking Without Words,’ and no 2020 VA compilation is quite complete without catching the
tense beat of ‘Lockdown,’ which Mexico’s Jömiêl captures candidly. At the tenth spot, Stix the
Artist lands us back right at home, or ‘Gau Lapeng’ in Southern Sotho, with a pulsating dance
that shrugs off a bit of the old, to vibe in the new. Just in time, Mo’Vibes sets the year off to a
good start.
