PVC-resident V:SONNTAG is an excellent match for our Connwax Selected series: Almost every day she spends time on researching newer and older music, her biggest joy being just listening and diving into moods. She’s particularly fascinated by the versatility of atmospheres and emotions techno can express. On one hand, she loves „fast, playful, sexy and groovy techno, that might at times contain acid or psy elements“, making the audience sweat and have a blast. On the other hand she likes techno on the darker side, which she can lose herself in. While preparing for this podcast V:SONNTAG envisioned a particular setting, that she’s been missing dearly during the past 1 1/2 years: „During my preparations I had Trakt 1 at Institut für Zukunft in mind and felt like recreating its vibe by playing a hypnotic, forceful mix on the faster range of techno“. The ‘Warehouse Sessions’ return to ELECTRONIC EXPLORATIONS once again this December after the monumental success of the first batch of 5 mixes in 2012. Truss, AnD, Stormfield & myself, Kangding Ray (EE mix of 2012) and DJ Skirt kicked off the series to mass appeal, so this will now be a once year event, running for 5 consecutive days. To kick us off – 006, EE welcomes an artist I’ve been a friend of for the entire time I’ve been doing EE, Sigha, an artist I’ve actually been trying to get on the show for just as long !

Neel [ Prologue ] Italy

This is Neel's live recording set at FullPanda Night in Berlin. 

Giuseppe Tillieci, aka Neel, grew up in Curinga, southern Italy. Neel has always been fascinated by electronic music and the technical aspects behind it. Pushing his curiosity a notch further, he built his first mixer at the age of 13. He developed his own personal taste for experimental sounds at the University of Music in Rome and subsequently in Rotterdam. In that period Neel found his obvious fulfillment in obscure, deep and underground electronics. His set is deep house-techno going through ambient atmospheares and melting with different performance situations, without anything really being defined or predictable.

The man has always had a strong flair for music production, which produced the collaboration with Prologue Music and, in 2011, the first "Voices From the Lake" EP release. The Voices From The Lake project – Neel’s collaboration with Donato Dozzy – grew from both their professional and social history. It’s the result of a long, hot summer in the studio, working side by side. The VFTL project already has an album scheduled for early 2012 as well as an intense live tour focused on the interaction between digital and analogue machines.

Neel’s solo album will be released in 2012 on Canadian label Silent Season in addition to other stuff on Prologue.

Through the windows of a thousand-year wisdom it perceives, its ears follow the heart beat of dark forest, the night owl utters smokey analogue: 

"Listen to the words of a bluish underwater phantom
hear the sudden burst of rising bubbles
Go deep down the ocean, dream way above the sky
all rise, people, let the trip begin."

The latest release of Donato Dozzy and Neel's collaboration project "Voices From The Lake" received excellent reviews, and we were there in 2011 to feel it by ourselves at Labyrinth. It was one of the best live ever.

Voices From The Lake has finished their US tour in July 2012, and Neel is about to start his Asia tour in September. The first gig at Smoke Machine with an exclusive all-night-long set, we are very excited seeing his DJ set in Taipei.
