The Nous'Klaer Audio affiliated Dutch & German DJ and producer Oceanic, known for his sets at his residency at the prestigious Amsterdam institution De School, steps up for the latest Phonica mix. Over the hour and a half Oceanic, real name Job Oberman, takes us on a journey of soundscapes, electronics, tech house, percussive rhythms and techno. This mix shows not only Job's musical range, having released Ambient live recordings on De School's De Nieuw label all the way to driven bassy techno on Rush Hour, but his undeniable skill behind the decks as well as his understanding of music and how various genres can be brought together harmoniously.

We are glad to welcome Casper to our podcasts series with an eclectic dj set, which we managed to capture at Daydreamers day event on the 26th of July in Red Market. Casper runs BleeD events, working alongside the likes of Blackest Ever Black, PAN, L.I.E.S. and Unsound, since 2010 he has been promoting some of the most innovative electronic music acts on the planet, as well as running a regular Rinse FM show and 22tracks.com experimental playlist. Cassegrain & Tin Man Boiler Room Berlin Live Set

We're happy to present the recording of Sebastian Mullaert and Ulf Ericksson's live/dj set at the Labyrinth 2015. Seb and Ulf played the first night, entitled "Full Circle". It was a set where everything came together beautifully and organically, crowd and artists and music, and we all felt it was something worth sharing.

Here is the full 3.5 hour recording, together with a few words from Seb and Ulf: 

"For me, everything comes and goes in circles. And like everything else these circles are unpredictable; spiralling and reformulating like a kaleidoscope. Manifestations of patterns in this very moment; Consciousness.

I played the first edition of Labyrinth, had a few returns during the years and now returned for the 15th edition. Russ and Yasuyo, together with their Mindgames crew, have always performed their festival with a focused and radical mind; one intention, one passion - to create a psychedelic experience of dance surrounded by the Japanese nature. While the festival has grown in many ways since my first episode at Labyrinth, this radical focus on the mind-altering experience and the true love for dance have remained the same, with no sign of resignation.

This year I shared the stage together with Ulf Eriksson; a friend who has become a very special creative collaborator. To be a part of Labyrinth and to play this specific gig is the most magical experiential puzzle of moments I've shared with Ulf. This is an experience that will continue to remind us why we are doing this – why we are part of this ever shifting circle, spiralling into inspiration upon aspiration - something that never stops. I'm forever thankful to Russ and Yasuyo both for giving us the opportunity to play, sharing this recording and also creating a series of experiences and stimulations, resulting in each of us that listens as individuals becoming a part of something bigger and more all-encompassing – a circle that connects us beyond the realms of materialism, into the unpredictable.

Russ, Yasuyo and the Labyrinth are a true source of inspiration and a reminder to all of us in love with dance and electronic music that there is no end to the power of experience. 

Let us continue to remind each other, again and again, circle by circle, moment by moment into eternity."

"To play the Labyrinth festival has always been a bit of a dream of mine. Why, I do not know exactly. Maybe it's because it takes place far away, in Japan. Maybe it's because of all the stories you have heard from the festival. Maybe it's because of the unique tribal mystic that surrounds it, in combination with the nature of the location. Maybe it's because of the small group of artists, who all become like family for a few days. I do not know. But what I do know is that this dream has always been there and I am sure I share I it with a lot of musicians and DJs around the world. Anyway, 2015 I was lucky enough to be offered a slot, due in large part to my collaboration with Sebastian Mullaert, who already played there many times, both as Son Kite and as Minilogue.

So there we were behind the Labyrinth tipi, me and Sebastian, ready to go. Or, rather, not ready at all. We had prepared each to our selves but never found the time to meet up and rehearse together. I remember that Sebastian looked at me just before the set, and said something like: "I will not be sad or disappointed if things do not go well". I guess he was trying to calm me down since he knew I was kind of nervous. Anyway, off we went and thankfully, for some unknown reason, it was one of those gigs where everything just felt right.

So here is the recording. I still have not listened to it, and I do not think I will. I think I prefer to stay with the live memory of how it sounded. But I do hope that you will listen to the set, and that it will give you pleasure and meaning, just as my memory of it."

In September last year, we teamed up with SCAR and our old pals at Metalheadz to bring you an exclusive premiere of 'Caged'. Now, as the duo return with a savage remix of Rufige Kru classic 'Dark Rider', we've got an exclusive SCAR mix to get your Saturday night started early.

SCAR is the joint project of Survival and Script, who together turn out menacing, hard-edged drum & bass. Their remix of 1992 track 'Dark Rider' features on the 2-track Goldie presents Rufige Kru EP, alongside a new VIP of 'Beachdifta' featuring vocals from Cleveland Watkiss. The release continues Goldie's long-awaited return, which the 'Headz boss kicked off with 'Broken Man' at the end of last year.

In the spirit of the release, SCAR have cooked up an 'Old Skool Headz Mix', packed with golden oldies from the likes of Dillinja, Doc Scott, Adam F and more.

Daniela Caldellas is a producer and DJ from Brazil. Having released music in many styles and guises over the years, Burn The Past, her debut offering as Terr, sees her return to her electro and techno roots.

This three track EP on Hotflush Recordings showcases Caldellas' extensive capabilities as a producer, with a variation of styles present throughout. From the vocal refrains of 'Burn The Past’ via ‘Metropolis’s electro flirtation to the stadium- sized 'May Day', Caldellas flexes a sure-footed range that hints at what’s to come. Burn The Past will be released on both vinyl and digital in April this year.

With well received releases on Phonica and Rekids (the label run by Radio Slave) which featured a remix by Galcher Lustwerk, she has already gained a lot of attention in a short period of time. Her mix takes in tracks from Dorisburg, Tuff City Kids, Omar S, Ian Pooley, Marcus Mixx remixed by Ron Hardy, Kyle Hall, Dan Curtain and the Joe Claussell Cosmic Arts Mix for Yoram Avni. There is a new 12" in the pipeline and you can catch her DJing at Panorama Bar on June 12th.

Although originally from Chile Claudia Ayala aka Masaya has been based in Switzerland from the tender age of two. She spent her childhood and formative years in Lausanne immersing herself in it’s rich culture and eventually music.

The captivating Swiss club scene had her hooked from the age of fifteen, from Zurich to Geneva the mesmerising world of dance music was the spark that lit the musical bonfire. After an eye-opening experience in a DJ competition, and some inspiring words from a panel member (Paul Oakenfold) she locked down a residency in the legendary Lausanne venue D! Club.

For twelve years she honed her abilities in the famous institution, developing a keen sense for reading the room and picking the right record at exactly the right time. Whether she's playing indoors or out, nighttime or daytime, Claudia’s multi-dimensional approach to DJ’ing and reading the crowd is unquestionable - a true master of her craft.

Her very own Mina Records (Mina means ‘pretty girl’ in her native tongue) is a slick nod to her intentions and creative path intended for the ever-impressive imprint. She explains “I wanted to nourish the feminine touch in music, be it produced by a man or a woman, and sustain the music I love by choosing and proposing it to others”.

Tribal vibes, hypnotic voices, seductive atmospheres - these are all things you can expect to hear on Mina Records. Among some of the artists she has signed are Swiss talents like Ripperton, Agnes and Chaton, as well as international producers like Rene Breitbarth, Pawas, Clara Moto or Sei A, Agaric, Petar Dundov or Sasse.

It is almost impossible to overstate Claude Young's impact on the development of Detroit Techno and other surrounding scenes (Lansing, Indiana, Ohio, Pittsburgh, and Toronto). It came from his all-in improvisational approach to playing records (what, you're not used to seeing someone scratch with their nose?) and his open and advanced attitude that saw beyond styles, scenes and race. It would be easy to say that he and Derrick Carter were the two most important Midwestern Rave DJs of the 90s, especially in terms of influence on the following generations.

When Claude Young came for Brother From Another Planet and a short US Tour in April 2012, he stayed at the erika.net Skypad. Having been in Tokyo for a number of years, he was quite excited to just hang out and talk about life, watch sci-fi films and listen to music. This mix came from one of those discussion sessions. Made entirely from vinyl that was laying around the turntables at the time, while he concentrated on this view.
