The crucial rite of Bwiti is the initiation ceremony,
when young Gabonese women and men take iboga for the first time in the huts specific to each gender to become members of the spiritual practice.
There are many ceremonies at different times of the year to give homage to the ancestors.

bogaine is best known in the West as an addiction-interrupting medicine,
with efficacy against heroin, methadone, cocaine, amphetamine and alcohol. However, the origins of ibogaine lie in the Bwiti tradition in Gabon, where the bark of the Tabernanthe iboga shrub from which ibogaine is extracted is used as part of an initiation ceremony. Iboga is also used in this tradition to address various physical and emotional problems. In other words, in its traditional context,
iboga is a psycho-spiritual tool, which supported peace and harmony within the community

What a year it has been, by far the most challenging an unexpected we could have imagined. We hope that you are all healthy and medicating with a proper music. This is our final release of the year and we welcome DJ Ezra from Patronus Records into our State Alchemy exclusives. Rochira, aka Ezra, hails from the land of love and trance: India. Having developed a flare towards the faster paced side of experimental psychedelic music, her journey to discover and master the art of mixing has been a notable one since she started in 2018. With a passion for experimenting with music she explores a vast range of grooves and attitude within her mixes, creating a solid journey that we think fits as a send off for 2020!
