The ‘Dispatch Dubplate’ label represents a new series of releases from Dispatch that focuses on special remixes of past tracks as well as new material with an emphasis on the ‘dubplate’ cutting culture of days gone past that we feel has been missing across more recent years as part of what was once a very vinyl / acetate led scene. The vinyl format itself will play an important role, with exclusive ‘dubplate only’ tracks featured per release in the series all pressed on a strictly limited, one time only x 300 press without any release specific artwork, to retain an air of mystery to every new release.

The first release is a family affair; Break returns to Dispatch to deliver a sublime remix of “The Formula” by DLR, Hydro, Mako & Villem from last summer. Already receiving multiple plays by Friction on BBC Radio 1, the remix causes major damage on the dancefloor, as Break’s signature drums encase a rigorous sub bass assault.

For the second track “Direct Approach”, both ‘dubplate’ and digital versions of the track will appear on each format with the dubplate mix of the track only appearing on vinyl; it’s a hotly anticipated debut link up between two extraordinary talents, Xtrah & DLR. A clash of 2 production titans, this was always going to be a rowdy collaboration; and it’s one we’re proud to debut as part of this exclusive series of releases.

Following a string of successful label releases in a short period of time, DLR is ready to unleash his debut solo album on Dispatch Recordings, entitled ‘Seeing Sounds’.

Having previously collaborated with Octane on the ‘Method In The Madness’ album, DLR has quickly established his own signature sound; an instantly recognizable groove mischievously poking through the mix, terrorizing dancefloors in a truly unique way.

As an album concept, ‘Seeing Sounds’ is DLR’s exploration into sound design and how the manipulation of organic elements and subtle soundscapes can create imagery within the music; to set the scene and immerse the listener up to a cinematic level.

Commencing this quest from abstract beginnings, DLR investigates over a selection of different formats and styles, ranging from the tantalizing neck snapper “Charlie Brown” to the sinister breakbeat nonchalance of “I Found Out”.

Inviting external influences to the fold; specially selected guests join the project to explore further, including Total Science, creating the cataclysmic “Control The Sound”, Hydro, the ambient chords and emotive vocal sample in ‘Empyreal” and partner in crime Break, resulting in the mighty, yet constrained “Human Error”.

Since Resident Advisor’s initial announcement, the album has garnered support from all corners, including Noisia, Friction (numerous Radio 1 plays), Goldie, Calyx & Teebee and The Upbeats, with Mixmag selecting it as their February ‘Album of the Month’. The early support from Friction on his BBC Radio 1 show also led to a special invite where DLR dropped an album mix in for live broadcast on the 13th of January.

With an innate understanding of the technology available and a shrewd willingness to exploit it, ‘Seeing Sounds’ is the culmination of DLR’s very best work to date.

Born amidst the 7-Elevens and white trash comradery of Southern California's suburban desert, Los Angelenos Francisco the Man grew up the way bands used to grow up. Huddled in the corners of their parents' garages. In church halls. In basements. Passing cheap beer, pissing each other off, and dreaming of the day they might continue to do the same without a dead end day job. 

Francisco the Man is indeed a real band from the days of yore, yet their sound is anything but dated: locomotive Crazy Horse jams with squalling feedback, the punky spirit of 1977 New York, sunburnt shoegaze hymnals, and chunky Motown grooves, all saturated in rose-hued California power pop. 

The guys latest release is just as sweet. Right when the band's euphoric crests have you shaking off goosebumps, Francisco the Man pulls the plug at the most dramatic moment to send you floating dreamily down a river of ambience reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine's Loveless. It's perfect, really. The only thing left is to drift off and tune in to the earnest, idiosyncratic vocals of singer Scotty Cantino, who stands out from his peers as one of the few true innovators of modern guitar pop. Evocative of a young Doug Martsch, Cantino's sanguine and nostalgic lyricism hearkens back to those early memories of suburban paradise, with all the heart and pluck of a wisened street child who never forgot where he came from. 

Their new 7" dropped August 7th, 2012 via Small Plates Records.

2009 saw the release of the first ‘Way Of The Samurai’ compilation which established the Samurai Music name early on with memorable tracks from the likes of Klute, The Upbeats, State Of Mind, Trei, Dose, Menace and more. 

For the 5 year anniversary of Samurai Music, we decided it was time to celebrate the occasion with another unique formation of producers we respect from all sectors of the Drum and Bass spectrum in a sequel to our first successful compilation. 'Code Of Honour' is what we believe to be a comprehensive snapshot of what is great about Drum and Bass in 2012. As always with our beloved genre 'Code Of Honour' has moments that point firmly to the future and moments that celebrate and summarize all that has been great in the genre's history. 2012 has been the best year in Samurai Musics 5 year history and we feel this is the perfect cap to a year where we achieved many of our initial goals and built a firm foundation for further development in the years to come. 

The name 'Code Of Honour' refers to the Bushido code and the 5 12" samplers from the album are each named after an essential virtue of the Samurai code.

Throughout its 20-year history, Insomniac has produced more than 250 festivals, concerts and club nights for nearly 4 million attendees in California, Colorado, Florida, Mexico, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Texas, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom. The company’s premier annual event, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, is the largest multi-day music festival in North America, attracting 400,000 fans over three days in June 2014.

The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.
