Rising star Wiwek, first kick started with his EP Jungle Terror, which was released in September 2014 on Barong Family, a label formed by Amsterdam DJ squad Yellow Claw.   Following the success of the first EP, five months later, Wiwek came up with the second release Jungle Terror Vol 2.  The four song EP is a swirling mix of lyrical and musical sophistication, which also includes collaborations with such acts as The Kemist and Mightyfools.  Wiwek is not afraid of exploring the boundaries of the eclectic electronic music scene.  He is back with fresh and vibrant beats and is ready to heat things up on the dance floor.  Wiwek-ers, rejoice!

Sidenote: When Remedy and I agreed to do this remix, we knew it would be tough. The original is a classic, which can present a problem for 2 producers that are tasked with remixing it. The question was... Do we go in a completely different direction from the original, or do we just stay faithful to the original and do a version of it with our own twists, drums, edits and what not. Ultimately, we chose to keep it simple and go for a tribute to the original as opposed to a total flip. Anyhow, I stand by our decision. Personally, I really like this remix a lot and it has been going off really well at my shows. Much love to Zomboy for having us remix this one.

@prepareforwarden does not subscribe to any particular genre, and his music has a dark nature that runs throughout all of his tunes. “Do It Like This,” his debut for the ‘Discovery Project Releases’ series, is minimal trap at its finest. The percussive synth and droning vocal that occupy the top end allow enough space to let the drums speak—and then his bass comes roaring. A dirty buzzsaw just thick enough to provide some low-end grit to the mix swirls around an array of fantastic edits and gangsta vocals.

Bristish duo Hollaphonic have been enjoying quite the success with their recently released garage tune, “Surrounded by Bass.” Scott Forshaw was invited on to remix the bit, for obvious reasons. He doesn’t take any shortcuts on his take, adding some serious weight to the UKG-tinted tune. Shuffling drums push things right along until horror-torn vocals are cornered by a gang of clunking stabs and bobbing basslines.

“Something Out,” a sweaty and stripped-to-the-bone offering, lands modestly on the minimal side of the fence. Relying heavily on an arresting vocal loop, the tune makes great use of mechanical percussion and alleyway textures to get its message across. It’s the drums that give this industrial-strength number the force to wedge itself into the warehouse.

Left/Right has been putting in mad work recently, with the Dallas-based artist using his multidirectional approach to broken beats to continually raise eyebrows. His newest number does the same, which finds him clicking with singer jACQ on “Lies,” a rough-edged number loaded with the realest vibrations. Her zero-bullshit lyrics are hauled off into the darkness through stuttering rhythms punctuated by face-hungry wobbles.
