Altered Motive
Night has already exhaled, and in the hush before dawn a small force hangs in the air. It doesn’t flap its wings—it quantizes the air: a short stroke, a pause, another impulse, as if the music were testing the load-bearing capacity of silence. Altered Motive is the moment when the thrust stays the same but the trajectory shifts at a deeper level—by the DEEPNAS canon: not louder, but closer; not faster, but sharper.

Drillcut works at micro scale. His hit is a metronome’s needle; the bass a warm contour that holds altitude while everything else pivots in place. Every percussive figure is a sip of nectar: brief, directed, without excess sugar. The sub doesn’t crush—it stabilizes, building an invisible platform for the listener, that very DEEPNAS depth on which you can hover, turn, and slip sideways without losing level.

Altered Motive is music for those who can linger above the decision point. A hummingbird pivots on the spot and flies on; Drillcut’s tracks do the same with your attention. In headphones, on a system, on the move—this is not showmanship but craft, the precise restraint of DEEPNAS: exact micro-motions that add up to a major forward shift.

Rebel Cause - Only Real Music.

Introduction

Rebel Cause is a drum and bass collective with a core formed by veteran producer inZtance (Villem Hion), his long-time studio partner Volume None, newcomer Rawla, and Toomas Teder, who is responsible for the visual identity. Their synergy creates a collective that embodies the traditions of the genre while remaining future-oriented. In anticipation of their upcoming debut album "Concepts," the collective is ready to introduce their work to a wider international audience.

The Collective's Creative Foundations

inZtance is an established figure on the Estonian drum and bass scene. His journey began in 2005 when he released his first track on the Basswerk Files label. His musical style is deep and melodic, yet enriched with technical elements. He has described his style as "smooth-with-the-rough," referring to the balance between softness and technical rigor. inZtance has also received recognition, winning the R2DNB Award for best drum and bass producer twice and the award for best Estonian DNB work.

His discography includes releases on several internationally recognized labels, such as Warm Communications and Hustle Audio. His 2007 debut album on Through Sounds is also notable. Additionally, he collaborated with Finnish artist Trisector on the track "Trace Of A Smile," which was released in 2009 on the Hospital Records sister imprint Med School. A 12-inch single, "Keep On Running / Breathing City," a collaboration with another Estonian producer Thing was released on the Warm Communications, with "Keep On Running" being a collaboration with Frank H. Carter III. On the Vampire Records label, inZtance has released tracks like "Last Few Minutes" (another collab with Trisector), "She's Gone" (on the "Nocturnal" album in 2012) and "He Knows Me."

Volume None is inZtance's long-time creative partner. Although little is publicly known about him, his contribution to the creation of Rebel Cause is significant. His name is credited as a featured artist on several tracks released under inZtance's Through Sounds label, including the 2013 EP "Understory / Ashes To Ashes."

Rawla is Volume None's younger brother and the newest member of Rebel Cause. Unlike the other members of the collective, who have been active on the music scene for longer, Rawla is only at the beginning of his career. However, he brings courage, freshness, a precise ear, and musical seriousness to the collective. Big things ahead!

Toomas Teder is responsible for the collective's visual identity. His role in integrating music and visuals is an integral part of Rebel Cause's artistic statement (videos, graphics, design, merch).
Toomas also filmed Rebel Cause's first music video for one of the main tracks from the album titled 'Try To Get By'

The birth of Rebel Cause is a natural continuation of the long-term collaboration between inZtance and Volume None, which has been expanded to include new talents (Rawla) and the visual aspect (Toomas Teder).

Their shared journey has culminated in the 16-track album "Concepts," which will be released on the legendary Source Direct co-founder Phil Source's Vampire Records label in 2026. The label's roster also includes well-known names like Teebee, Zero T, Survival, Kolectiv, Physics, Nymfo and NC-17.

NonRev's long-awaiting and beautifully deep remix of Missen's classic 'All U Need' finally arrives, taking the track in a beautiful new direction which stirs into a timeless epic.

Fundamentals returns to Codename with the deep rolling vibes, snappy breaks and dusty grooves of 'Trust Me', before Okee serves up a wonderful remix of Trident's classic 'Feel Good'. delivered in the trademark style of this atmospheric master.

The EP closes with 'Return To A Distant Sun' from label-debutant Hajimeru (an alias of Codename's main artwork designer) - a beautiful GLR style amen workout soaked in beautiful pads and dreamy vocals.

We are proud to present the solo debut release from Berlin based duo Survey on Dispatch, with five tracks for the ‘Sidewalks EP’.

With a dark edged sound, the pair have been on our radar for some time and it was only a matter of time before we formally welcomed them, having recently featured on the Tephra & Arkoze EP with ‘This World’ (as supported by Noisia).

A shrewd application of production merit, Survey primarily focus on groove and vibe, leading the charge from the bassline up and every element gravitating towards it –especially on
‘Get It’, which received an exclusive airing on BBC Radio 1last month (in Survival’s guest mix).
