Venezuelan wonder producers Fur Coat step up for a triumphant return to their spiritual home of Crosstown Rebels armed with a solid stack of weapons to vamp up the dancefloor. Showcasing the duo’s most thoughtful and restrained material to date, the ‘U Turn EP’ is a deep and moody tour de force, technically on point and awash with hypnotic bleeps, dramatic tension and shards of vintage techno. Damian Lazarus has consistently hammered all 4 cuts of late and ‘U Turn’ has been a staple in the sets of the mighty Tale Of us for 4 months, debuting at Time Warp in Mannheim to heated speculation. Stylistically more heads down with not a hint of vocal, these are darkroom killers with the artistic essence of Fur Coat in tact.

Fur Coat is one of the most hard-working and passionate duos in the business. On an endless quest for an original groove, irresistible hook and utmost production quality, their wildly successful releases for the likes of Hot Creations, Bpitch Control and of course Crosstown Rebels has ensured that the duo a weighty touring schedule and loyal following. Unearthed and championed by original Rebel Damian Lazarus, the duo released their impressive debut album ‘Mind Over Matter’ in 2012 on Crosstown Rebels

Since the album dropped, the pair have been called upon to sprinkle the unmistakable Fur Coat magic to reworks of legends such as Timo Maas & Robert Owens as well as hot newcomers Kidnap Kid & Joy Wellboy. April 2014 saw another landmark as the guys released their first original material since Mind Over Matter. 'Theres No Time EP' came out on the much hyped Hot Creations imprint from Jamie Jones & Lee Foss and is still getting hammered by some of the biggest players in the game today. Hot on its heels came 'The Right Move EP' for Ellen Allien's legendary Berlin imprint Bpitch Control, and featured the vocal talents of Jaw from DOP, again cementing Fur Coat’s name at the top of the industry.

Here's The Foreigners remix of 'Emperor' - the hit single from Ali Love, taken from his new album P.U.M.P. The Foreigners were the winners of our Beatport competition and their remix is being released exclusively on Beatport as part of the 'Perfect Picture' release on Crosstown Rebels.

Back on board Crosstown Rebel off­shoot Rebellion since his massive ‘Two Days In The Sky EP’ was released on the label late last year, LA based producer DAVI returns to deliver ‘The Gates of Babylon’. Never restricted by the boundaries of genre, the title track is highly mystifying as it resonates a distinct middle eastern tone through the infectious melody and layered atmosphere. The release also features the stunning ‘Eclipse’ which follows suit taking you on a deep melodic journey, filled with warm tones, vibrant strings and a solid bassline.

The exact story behind ‘French Girl In Berghain’ remains a mystery. Only Sandeman and Monkman know the true origins of this dark and seedy cut. Two questions remain unanswered – who is she and what really happened that night in Berghain? The track feeds the imagination with its warm swinging bass and seductive French female vocals, deep bass and penetrating electronic chords that climax in a frenzy of laughs, giggles and erratic synths. Complete with a useful ‘Laughapella’ DJ Tool.

Mid June will see Cera Alba return to the MadTech Records imprint with the ‘London To Barcelona’ EP, comprising four original tracks from the budding British artist.

Newcastle born, now London-based Liam Jones aka Cera Alba has been hard at work, plugging away as a producer and DJ to great success over the past few years, racking up releases on Moon Harbour, ViVa Music, Hot Creations, Gruuv and MadTech where he returns to here. Jones has also maintained a heavy touring schedule of late and this year will see him play shows in electronic music hot spots Berlin, Ibiza, and of course his now home turf London, 2015’s set to be a big year for this hotly tipped artist.

Kicking off the EP is ‘Barcelona’ which sees Cera Alba deliver a bass heavy, percussive number laid out over seven and a half minutes with vacillating sub hits, whirring synth drones and murmuring vocal lines meandering around a weighty rhythmic foundation. ‘She Flows’ follows and tips the focus over to sparse drum lines, bulbous bass tones and fluttering synth sequences while intricately processed vocal licks instill a smooth and soulful influence to the composition.

Opening the flip side of the EP we have ‘The Lowdown’ which brings swinging rhythms, murky low- pitched vocal hits and penetrating tom hits into the limelight, while closing cut ‘Relaxxx’ winds down the release on a low-slung tip with straight 4/4 rhythms and a groove-led hypnotic feel.

Track of the Day: Brodanse “Miss Your Love” (DJ W!ld Remix)

The latest helping from the always-piquant Inside Out Records camp comes at the hands of its chief-in-command, Stevie R. The label head is not alone on the affair, as he brings along familiar face Matt Hardinge to help forge a trip-hop-imbued, contemplative cut of extraordinary measure. The soul-soothing original sees them calling upon the lurid lungs of singer Shawni to add bluish hues to the melancholic mood they’ve so carefully crafted here.

Kosmas exhibits the same sang-froid he always exhibits in the studio, taking on remix duties alongside Namito, Si Tew and MEK. Making sure not to transport the piece too far from the deep trenches whence it came, he lifts the intensity up just enough to make this one fit right in on club floors. It’s a graceful groove, to say the least, with aqueous atmospherics and gentle, lapping keys seeping through its tight perc programming.

Now in its 10th year of operation, Slit Jockey has reached into its vaunted vaults to kick out their 10 Years of Grime compilation. It’s a 38-track pack chronicling a catalog that has championed the genre on this side of the pond from the get-go. Sharing space on the release—with works from Starkey, J Beatz, Spooky and the SJ label bosses—is this soot-covered sub-shaker from Mella Dee. It’s a completely bombastic blitz that shows Slick Don using his silver tongue to spit vicious bars over Mella’s mental broken beat.

Track of the Day: Mella Dee ft. Slick Don “VIP”

Milk & Sugar’s latest treat comes in the shape of “Ready or Not,” a sweet single being wrapped as part of their double-sided compilation House Nation Ibiza 2015. The track feeds off their influence of disco, soul and funk, sampling and speeding up the infectious hook from the Delfonics’ classic (of which you probably fux with the Fugees rendition). The string and brass phrases do most of the heavy lifting here, while Kevin Knapp and Tasia Bennet lend their vocal chops to give the cut an added layer of extreme catchiness.
