Enter Milan native producer PRP, an up and coming artist with a unique style that approaches bass music genres with an exotic, cultural and deeply tropical touch. His newest track Moombasa is the perfect introduction to his rich style, where a minimalist percussion and hypnotic flute samples loop around to create a captivating sonic world, filled with animal noises, menacing bass lines and all sorts of random musical elements from the warmest regions of the planet.

This spring, twenty DJ/producers from the Netherlands descended on a cottage in the north of France and converted it into a studio complex. Label heads Yellow Claw, as well as Mike Cervello, Moksi, LNY TNZ, The Galaxy, Dirtcaps, Mightyfools, FS Green, Cesqeaux, Fountain Of Youth, FS Green and Wiwek all dropped by to contribute heat.

Over seven days, in various combinations, they wrote and produced the 15 new tracks on the Barong Family Album. The album is available for stream and free download as of now. The album is preceded by a short documentary, and followed by a Barong Family world tour.

That’s from a Lord Tennyson poem from 1849, and they didn’t even have Tinder in those days. ‘For a Day’ is the first collaboration between Barong Family’s Chinese prodigy Chace and his Dutch label mates Moksi. Love knows no borders, especially not when likeminded producers work on a session together. After finetuning the lyrics, Chace concentrated on his vocals and Moksi worked on the drop, warping a scorned diva sample in a jacking groove. It’s a match!
