This summer Anja Schneider and mobilee will make a splash in Ibiza with a free, intimate bi-weekly pool party residency at Santos Coast Club. With six shows on the schedule, 2014 will be the break-through summer for mobilee's beloved pool parties series. The opening kicks off on Monday, July 14th and the residency pool series will follow every second Monday starting at 2pm with September 22nd marking the date of the closing party.
 
Ibiza Sonica Radio will broadcast the full opening party from 2:00 to 11:00pm. Material head honcho and purveyor of versatile, percussive dancefloor shakers for the likes of Get Physical, Saved, Snatch! Toolroom, Suara, Nurvous, and Lapsus Music - Mihalis Safras (@mihalissafras) is one of the most charted artists on Resident Advisor and deservedly so.

‘Acido EP’ sees Mihalis showing his chops with two original tracks, ‘Acido’ and ‘JFK’. First up on remix duty we have North-Eastern up-and-comer Cristoph (Noir Music, DFTD (Defected), Suara, Materialism and Underground Audio), who delivers a pulsing and hypnotic remix of ‘Acido’.

Stepping to the plate to provide a tough, no-nonsense remix of ‘JFK’ we have Tom Flynn, whose releases in 2014 on labels including Hot Creations, Dirtybird, and Circus Recordings amassed a wealth of support from the likes of Steve Lawler, Guy Gerber, Jamie Jones, Carl Cox, and Richie Hawtin.

Previous releases from Mihalis Safras have received support from Sven Vath, Nicole Moudaber, Kaiserdisco, Nic Fanciulli, Alan Fitzpatrick, Ida Engberg, Nick Warren, Mendo, and Edu Imbernon.

First time appearance on Piston for Irish DJ and producer Cerillo with the deep fuelled two tracker Hold Tight. Cerillo has made quite a name for himself in the last few years with signings to various labels including Waldliebe Familien, Centric Music and Natural Rhythm Berlin. His tracks have gained much support among many DJ's and radio shows such as B.Traits BBC Radio 1, David Moreno Ibiza Global Radio, wAFF, Marco Carola, Ibiza Voice, Robert Owens, Solomun, Steve Lawler, Defected Residents, Robert Dietz, Flashmob, Loco Dice, DJ Sneak, Chus, Dave Seaman, Horatio, Sam Divine & many more.

Hold Tight gives good instructions as you will need to buckle in for a turbulent ride into deep and moving grooves. Muted kicks are joined by a bright hats section and build the rhythm smoothly as we are led into a very cool warm bass that walks across the sound beautifully. Big chunky kicks soon follow and pound your core mercilessly as that bass takes control. Stretched vocals bring an air of chaos on the break before crashing back into the main sound and that outstanding tight drum arrangement. Definitely a big floor hitter here that you will not want to miss.

Ghettoblaster gets right up in your face with a tough jagged edged kick and sharp hat combi as cool vocal sounds begin to fade through. A warm plucked bass brings the groove into the deep zone and layers continue to build. The drum patterns give off an urban style groove as the raw power of the track is unleashed. The break is a maelstrom of rolling drums and percussions that is only broken with a brilliant, instantly recognisable classic vocal. Top notch cut that will definitely turn a few heads.

Nom De Strip is no stranger when it comes to making merciless bangers. He’s a producer’s producer who knows all the tricks to making tracks sound as large as possible, so it’s no surprise that this bootleg will have you crawling out of your skin to hit the next festival. 

His new track “Aliens” is set to drop on May 11 via Revealed, and he also has some tunes coming out on soon on Dim Mak. If this bootleg is any indication of where he’s taking things this year, I’d definitely pay close attention.

When Brooklyn-bred producer Curses made the decision to move to Berlin earlier this year, things were bound to get a bit deeper. His newest offering, “Ocean Eyes,” is a late-night burner complete with metallic bells and subterranean drums. He’ll be touring extensively throughout Europe this summer and has more music forthcoming on OFF!, as well as his own Safer at Night imprint.

Maxen’s Risk Taker EP may be his second release to date, but you wouldn’t detect this notion after listening to the three originals he offers up here—one of which has been ramped up by the label boss himself. It’s sneaky and sophisticated and rubs all the right frequencies in all the right ways. A playful bassline cruises through bouncy percussion, as the whole piece slowly unfolds into an unexpected turn. It gets me every time.

Track of the Day: Niko Maxen “The Ol’ Boy” (Dexter Kane Remix)

It’s been five or so years already, and the London-based label still comes off like that super knowledgeable companion of yours who always digs up the most insane tracks before anyone else. Their latest prize comes at the hands of their leader, Cozzy D, and contains three originals. The title cut, “Anxiety,” is a straightforward floor shooter that comes out with its tech-house guns blazing alongside a buff Volkoder remix. The Brazilian beast leaves a good chunk of Cozzy’s ideas intact while pushing out his own frenetic agenda. With its eyes on the finish line, the tune features a frenzy of drum fills and driving percs to keep you locked in on its big basslines, which flow through peremptory synth stabs.

Track of the Day: Cozzy D “Anxiety” (Volkoder Remix)

Dev79 has tapped Pixelord to bring out his soulful take on the his latest single. Without skimping on the vibes, the menacing producer from Moscow builds off the ‘90s-nodding rave cut and flips it into a crazed 2-step garage beast. Light-footed and chopped to bits, the tune hangs tight with shuffling percs and rapid-fire stabs that clearly serve as the kill shot here. I deem no dancefloor safe from this wicked weapon.
