Hailing from Buenos Aires in Argentina, Octavio Sardi AKA TYf draws his influences from sexual tensions, surrealist arts, and terror films. TYf’s releases are full of eerie sounds, dark atmospheres and funky bass lines. They have a certain trippyness and groove that really draws you in as a listener. 

To complement the original works, we’ve enlisted three of Join Our Club’s brightest stars along for the ride. Cabaret Nocturne cranks up the tension on his remix of Red Hills, whilst Emile Strunz drops the tempo, pushes the electronic body music settings to +10 and turns out a fine posh trance rendition of Scissors Dance. To finish up Alexander Khov rounds off proceedings with some bass heavy machine funk.

Over the years we have had the pleasure to develop a friendship with Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation. 

As huge fans of the group, a collaboration to have them play at Robot Heart at Burning Man was always a dream, if an impossible one.

This year at Burning Man, just in time for the inaugural Heart & Soul sessions from Robot Heart and Thievery Corporation's 20th anniversary, we finally had the honor of hosting Thievery Corporation on the Playa.  Three years in the making, the product of serendipity, determination and a lot of team work, here is that amazing, unannounced sunset performance at the Robot Heart camp before an audience of thousands of burners. Thank you Dave Geller, Elliot Dunwoody, Pascal Pharmacon and the 18-person team from Thievery Corporation for helping make our collective dream come true!

This ten-minute long track from German-duo Voigt & Voigt offers a mind-bending dose of minimal techno as it weaves through a variety of static sonics and blistering beats from start to finish. 'Superstar' is a digital exclusive off of Voigt & Voigt's upcoming release entitled 'Speicher 82'. Set to drop on 1st December via Kompakt, the album includes 'Superstar' along with the equally as intense tracks 'Superpitch' and 'Supertrip'.

It's difficult to describe the feeling that I had when I first saw the Robot and the Heart floating in the desert, peacefully united under the rising red sun. Hopefully my recording captured some magic from the Playa for you, which felt more like Mars than Earth. My set was from 8-10am on Wednesday morning, big thanks to Robot Heart for inviting me to play and much love to the astronauts, gypsies and spirit animals that joined me on the trip ....... it was an amazing and unforgettable experience <3

Track of the Day: Bollocks “Runnin’”

Knowing that he had to tackle both Ibiza residencies and European festival gigs this summer, Doorly hunkered down in his L.A. studio earlier this year and got to work. Since then, he’s enjoyed a robust release schedule marked by a new track practically every week for the last two months. Riding high off his latest EP for Relief, he’s stacking an impressive two-track EP for Toolroom that will surely see him back in the charts. 

“Lustfahrt” has the kind of loose, swung drums and cheeky disco snippets that’ll be perfect for warming up dancefloors this summer, and the twisted synths during the builds have enough energy to make it a notable groover. We tried reaching him ahead of the release next week, but the man’s just played Hideout Festival in Croatia and had to book it back to Sankey’s in Ibiza with a pit stop last night in Dubrovnik; so we’ll let it slide this time.

Next week, Montel is set to mount back up on ALiVE Recordings with his follow-up EP, Out There. Forming the first of two crowd-crushing cuts, “It’s Like That” is a serious slapper that’s bent to burn through any dancefloor it touches. A corrosive and commendably catchy vocal hook does a decent amount of damage here, while pummeling percs and slinky synth lines take the tune into dangerously high levels of groove.

Track of the Day: Montel “It’s Like That”

Portable steps forward to reshape “New Soul” into an exquisitely cerebral cut. The Berlin-based producer is notorious for breaking ground and enthralling crowds with a sonic sheen built from complex composition, and he lays it on thick here. Injecting the lugubrious atmospherics of the original with flecks of acid and clanging perc hits, no dancefloor will be able to sit still when this one comes on.

It's been a happy spectacle watching our friends at Lobster Theremin grow into the pink-bellied beast we see before us today. Their following has grown almost as quickly as their roster, snowballing via a release schedule that's as strong as it is frequent: a consistently welcome serve-up of Motor City-inspired house, dreamscape acid and narcotic techno. 

Late last year, Camp Lobster drilled deeper into the spectrum with Mörk, the label's darkling sub-imprint and home to its gloomiest techno. This week they inaugurate a new imprint, Distant Hawaii – a summer off-shoot for beach-coasting sunshine house. And its first release is exactly that: a wonderfully deep debut for Manchester man Hidden Spheres. 'Waiting' is our pick of the litter: a glowing thumper that's all butter-melt Rhodes lines, ecstatic vocal whoops, and tons of playful percussion. The perfect summer jam, basically – coming to a terrace near you very soon.

As an extension of his equally enticing Emphasis EP, released through Tessier-Ashpool last month, Otik strings together four new club constructions to complement the previous package. Issued by Infinite Machine, Stangelove is a love letter written to an epoch predating the producer’s generation and inked in painstakingly precise programming. Lead cut “Glimpse” dusts off a Missy Elliot vocal sample and ingeniously intertwines it with spluttering subbass and a heavy-stepping riddim that will get heads all nodding in agreeance: Otik couldn’t be any more on-point.
