Kevin Hunt is a soulful acoustic performer. On tracks like "A Healin" his voice and the way he riffs on a lyric puts him into that spiritual Van Morrison tradition, all the way from Astral Weeks to No Guru No Method No Teacher. "A Healin" nods lyrically to Morrison, but it's an affectionate homage, an acknowledgement that they are travelling the same road, rather than a steal. The interplay between Kevin, Ian Pearson's lyrical violin and John Parker's upright bass on "Stoney Broke In Dublin" and the title track is classy and spot on, placing Devils Daughter that special niche between folk, jazz and Country.
