When visiting a unfamiliar holiday destination where is your first port of call? The pool, the bar or the beach? Back in 2017, Emma Millen first arrived at a beach in Kalutara unknowing how meeting a local tour guide would develop.

In this documentary, Emma explores tourism in Sri Lanka. How tourists are seen by locals and how tourism helps local people earn a living. Follow the personal journey she takes by setting off solo to live with a certain local tour guide and attend a traditional wedding. During her visit she explores what it’s like to live like a local and the difficulties local people face trying to earn a wage.
