The One is a song that is inspired by love for someone but it could also be interpreted as being tinged with a little sadness about loss and longing and the passage of time. It is a reflective song about life long relationships and those special memories that stay with you forever. It’s also about looking at your feelings for someone who is not necessarily a lover or a partner but someone who has touched your soul in an unexpected and unique way. Much of the inspiration for the song came from the love I feel for my brothers little boy who is just two years old. I feel incredibly lucky to have him in my life and the love I feel for him is quite overwhelming sometimes and has really taken me by surprise. I am his uncle but also his guardian and I feel very lucky to have him in my life. But I think it is best if people listen to the song and relate to it in their own way, it can mean whatever you want it to mean really but I suppose ultimately it is about love. The music video tells a bit of a story which I think illustrates the song from my perspective pretty well.
