Schimmer Groovebox #019 w/ JVN

Lobster Theremin ambient sub-label Lobster Sleep Sequence announce the double LP + 7” album Unfinished from Dutch producer nthng - featuring a limited run of copies on deep green vinyl. 
Themed around events in the artist's life, Unfinished is a deeply personal journey, yet there’s something very relatable to the world he has conjured. Lockdown has forced us to look inward, explore realities within ourselves and the fragility of our forgotten world. The album is a series of peaks and troughs - hopeful words, ominous tones and other-worldly soundscapes, giving way to a journey in no way linear - but a true reflection of our times. 
The title track sets the scene perfectly, while Son features deep bass notes, dreamy keys and spoken word - creating a visceral and unsettling scene. Subnautica resides in the fringes of ambient and techno - as tribalistic drums are suspended in our new rendered reality. 
The marching bass and howling synths of Wrath of the Demon lull conspicuously in a vacuum, while the hauntingly beautiful vocals featured on Disappeared But Not Forgotten evoke a poignant, powerful reaction across the record’s B-side - “Everything stopped, you just disappeared...”
At its most tranquil Our Time offers a sense of rest - a space to appreciate, as we leave the window open, peer outside and feel the gentle breeze brush across our face. Saafe continues this theme, and feels like a warm embrace - “She saved my life in a matter of speaking, then she gave me back the power to believe.”
Ending Theme is beautifully organic as you hear the sound of the piano pedal touch the floor,  tones are introspective and vulnerable - while the looming presence of uncertainty subtly takes form in thinly layered pads. 
The album also sees the release of a digi only bonus track Only a Flash of Light and invites you outside while the stars are at their brightest.

Beste Hira started her musical career at a young age. While completing her high school and university education majoring in the classical cello and classical piano branches of the music department. She also wanted to improve herself in the field of jazz in which she was interested and managed to get her certificate with her performance in the European Jazz Workshop.

She moved to Amsterdam in 2019 to bring the music she produced and her mixes. To step further destinations in her career, focussing on production, she will present her EP, which will be released on October 16, 2020, to the whole world via Schimmer Records.

Beste Hira aimed to capture a fluent sound by including groove rhythms and hypnotic sounds in her music. Bordo Ep is named after her song Bordo. The jazz sounds she used in Bordo have always been the ones that she have been impressed with. She likes to use this approach in her music. At the same time, her song titles always have a story for her and each of them is so precious.

“This various artist compilation by Schimmer Records will be available for free on Bandcamp on the 25th of December. The main idea behind this compilation was to give our artists the freedom to create something outside of their usual habits of production and sound. Something they normally wouldnt produce. Think outside the box and create something new. With
this idea the Schimmer resident artists created something special and new, maybe nothing functional to play in a set, but something to listen to closely. This ten track album is an intern project in which everything was allowed - from ambient to breakbeat and jungle - it opened up doors of creativity and freedom in our production.

Parano is a 21 year old, self taught, producer from the Hague, Netherlands, who has been producing for just shy of 2 years. His artist name is Paranoid, but without id, as there is no real identity to his style or sound. Parano remains fluid with his style of production and djing, as it allows his sound to remain creative without being placed under one specific genre. Parano wishes that his true identity remains unknown.

We hope you enjoy this moody, high energy project which takes you on a rhythmical journey through Parano’s experimental mind.
