Hagel is a real vinyl aficionado with a record collection that includes some groovin' treasure. He can play a wide range of styles and genres, but he's particularly drawn to house and minimal music that gets your feet moving - and he may be playing your next favorite song right now as you read this.

Hagel's music is formed by Berlin's never-ending evenings, and it changes as the day progresses. He incorporates influences from the United Kingdom, Funk, and Jazz, while always keeping an ear and eye out for the groove.

Hagel has performed in a variety of European nations, including Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, and others.
His home base is Berlin, where he has performed at a number of well-known venues such as Club der Visionäre and Golden Gate, among others.

Today we welcome @royabrehl to our mix series. Roya is a Leeds-based DJ and producer, playing a plethora of deep electronic sounds.

Over the years Roya has been an integral part of the Leeds music and nightlife scene. As a co-founder and resident at the Schwein parties, Roya played regularly at Wire and other respected venues across the city. Along with three previous Schwein residents, they are now part of The Off Licence, who have invited a diverse range of respected artists to their line-ups.

Roya is also is part of the team behind The Imaginarium, a new creative arts space and venue in Leeds, and is founder of the Hideous Things mix series.

C’est avec une atmosphère angoissante de film à suspens qu’Alcalina commence son récit, rapidement gagné par un groove minimal épuré et poussé. Un long dialogue percussif absorbe l’auditoire avec patience et réflexion, avec l’apparition timide d’un Rhodes furtif. La conception sonore est captivante, toujours en mouvement, et caractérisée par un arrière-plan riche et lointain : échos de discussions éthérées, opéra de Carmen.
La recherche rythmique est savante, la polyrythmie fascine lors de l’écoute, avec un rythme déconstruit et transformé en groove très lent. On assiste à une démonstration de force de musique minimale avec une saveur organique. Le caractère hypnotique et mental prend le dessus un moment, avant de glisser peu à peu vers un autre groove très travaillé, agrémenté de voix et d’éléments abstraits délicieux. Des notes tonales et atonales se confondent dans un équilibre précis.
Un thérémine vient caresser l’oreille de surprise. Musique concrète dans l’air, un bouquet d’instruments se découpe en une douce cacophonie. Une page se tourne vers une scène de film formidable, orchestrale, pleine d’émotion ; contraste ensoleillé et concret avant de rebasculer dans une qualité rythmique tenant du free jazz, très minimaliste et puissant.
L’épilogue de cette expérience cinématographique laisse le spectateur accompagné d’une belle basse ronde et d’une voix d’un autre temps, témoin acoustique des années 1950.

[EN] Alcalina begins her story with the anguishing atmosphere of a suspense film, quickly won over by a minimalist groove, pure and refined. A long percussive dialogue absorbs the audience with patience and reflection, with the shy appearance of an elusive Rhodes. The sound design is captivating, always in motion, and characterized by a rich and distant background: echoes of ethereal discussions, Carmen’s opera.
The rhythmic research is skilful, the polyrhythm fascinates when listening, with a rhythm deconstructed and transformed into a very slow groove. We witness a demonstration of minimal music strength with an organic flavour. The hypnotic and mental character takes over for a while, before gradually sliding into another very elaborate groove, embellished with delicious voices and abstract elements. Tonal and atonal notes merge in a precise balance.
A theremin comes to caress the ear of surprise. Concrete music in the air, a bouquet of instruments is cut into a soft cacophony. A page is turned to a wonderful film scene, orchestral, full of emotion; sunny and concrete contrast before turning back to a rhythmic quality with a free jazz feel, very minimalistic and powerful.
The epilogue of this cinematic experience leaves the spectator accompanied by a beautiful round bass and a voice from another time, an acoustic witness of the 1950s.

In 2013 as the Balearic scene was changing in his native Spain, Javier Baz felt a magnetic pull draw him to Germany. The melting pot of Berlin’s club culture is as potent as it is transformative, and making the move he was thrust headfirst into a period of deep musical exploration. Spending countless hours digging into obscure minimal and deep techno productions, whilst soaking up the unrestrained artistry and expressionism on display at the local clubs. Over the subsequent years under his @Suburbial alias, Javier began gaining support and respect amongst his peers, with his productions being played in celebrated institutions like Globus (Tresor), Hoppetosse & Club der Visionaere. Galvanized by these milestones he shifted his focus more heavily into music production, experimenting with new machines, instruments, and modulars. His defined producing style has gone from strength to strength, now ranging from submersive techno to deep minimalistic and organic sounds. Always aiming for a harmonic evolution that is both energetic and enigmatic. His masterful approach to music has seen him signed to reputed labels like @CurteaVeche and @Rotatemusic, with more releases inbound on different labels, alongside his self-styled imprint @DeepnosiS.
