Α. Square, aka Alexandros Martigopoulos, is a DJ, architect and musician living in Athens. After experimenting with bands as a guitarist and bassist in his early years and discovering the freedom of improvisation, jamming and the bedrock of dub, he started DJing in outdoor DIY raves. 

Over the next decade, he built his signature sound and honed his production skills, drawing inspiration mostly (but not exclusively) from the UK scene, soundsystem culture, all things dub and everything that falls on the hardcore continuum. He has hosted shows on Paranoise and Cannibal Radio and Fade Radio. 

Currently, Α. Square is a resident producer at Stegi Radio, where he curates the monthly Mutant Jazz show, showcasing his evolving production style. He is also a member of Matter, a collective dedicated to promoting forward-thinking, innovative music with a special focus on low frequencies.

Cryogenics started as a listener in the early 90s, with a growing passion for the Jungle/Drum & Bass scene. 
He started to spin records at home and then at school parties. In 1995, with his best friend at the time, they played their first DJ set in a club. He bought his first PC a year later and with ‘FasTracker2’ he tried to compose his first tunes. His first track ‘Source Code’ garnered praise and made him known within the local jungle/d&b scene. In 2001, with Requiem (Vibez Recordings/Outsider) and some friends, he started promoting their own club nights in Athens, hosting guests like Equinox, Bizzy B, Chris Inperspective, 0=0, Paradox, Phil Source and more. 
A few years later he met with Junior SP, an encounter that proved pivotal to his musical ascend. He became a resident DJ on JSP’s “Innersense” events alongside LTJ Bukem, Blu Mar Ten, Goldie, Spirit, Seba, Om Unit, Ed Rush, Doc Scott, Dom & Roland, Kryptic Minds, Commix and many more. 
His first production foray came on Timewarp’s label, Kraak Records. Counter-intuitively it was a non-d&b release.
In 2012 Cryogenics decided to launch his own label Audio Theory Records to cater for his own material and provide a platform to promote music from like-minded artists, covering a wide spectrum of bass music from deep/minimal Drum & Bass to Dubstep and Future Garage. A year later he established the sister label Evil Audio, focusing on drumfunk and modern jungle.
Cryogenics has released on a variety of record labels including the likes of Omni Music, Boomsha Recordings, Convoluted Recordings, Liquid Drops, Monochrome Recordings, Minus32, Kraak Records, Audio Theory, Evil Audio and more!

Connecting the dots is what drives Runner. Pushing, playing & promoting the low end continuum from his 90s days in the UK all the way to today’s landscape and into the future. Constantly 'going back to go forward' through his #SubbedOut & #237Sessions on @Paranoise & @stegi-radio respectively, the one-off block parties in the ancient city under his banner, the legacy with Dimensions Festival launches in Athens & reppin' the Swamp81 family in the city. 

In the last few years we find him setting up a variety of significant projects with his friends that by the end of 2017 brought us #Shuffle, the party mostly based on ‘superior blend’ DJs mainly from the UK. Josey Rebelle, Jon K, Shanti Celeste, A Made Up Sound, Peach combined with local talent have rumbled the foyer of Mikrokosmos cinema,  #Shuffle's spiritual home. Finally to be able to shake the Romantso basement with the @Swamp81 take over of Chunky, Loefah & Sumgii in 28th of Feb 2020, just-before-everything-shut-down is pure gold. 

Cue in 4 yrs and a pandemic later, it is now 2024 and radio, DJing & pushing the envelope with like minded cats in and out of the city helps to fight attention deficits and focus on the music & the people first & foremost
