A cruising disco bassline loop over nasty drums head toward a potent crescendo, a real moment track, If you’ve seen the video of Carl Cox playing it to 10000 people at Ultra Music Festival this Miami WMC you’ll know exactly what we are talking about. Ridiculous!

 
Next up What You Feel is a mature techno record yet with all the warmth and energy Kydus is becoming known for. The relentless groove pulsates as the subtle sirens lift the energy as it unfolds. Another tornado from Kydus.

Talented Spanish producer Cuartero masterfully combines house and techno to deliver four of his best works to date for the mighty Hot Creations. This heavy 4 tracker has been getting heavy support from Jamie Jones & Richy Ahmed ever since they signed it.

Making a serious impact, title track ‘Dioneli’ is a rolling monster with raw, dominant percussions, while ‘Liquido’ follows suit as a heavy duty weapon. On the flip ‘Manipulated’ is a melodic masterpiece with a bouncing bassline and sultry vocals. Completing the package ‘Smooth Early’ rounds off with more sonic bassline action.

Spanish bred Cuartero began producing at the tender age of 15, launching his first release in 2009. Releases soon followed on labels such as, Desolat, VIVa MUSIC and Moon Harbor Recordings.

Long-term brother of the label Matthias Tanzmann makes his full debut on Saved Records. And it is well and truly worth the wait. The German stalwart delivers a hedonistic two track EP that places distinctive bassline-led grooves at the centre of a sound that is bristling with personality, energy and adventure.
Despite the flat, thudding kick drum that announces the track, “No Sleep” immediately sets out its stall as a visceral tech groover with funky, tribal drums. By the time the simple yet deliriously fun bassline joins the party, the track is a completely derailed and unhinged slice of party atmospheres. Rapid-fire drum machines skitter across the top to fuel a dancefloor stamina that drives momentum forward.

“Sleazy Rider” is a deeper, weightier workout with ghetto bass as its backbone. Around the grumbling bass you have shuffling percussion, chopped up vocal FX and some wildly tumbling basslines that inject a sense of swing into proceedings. The power of the bottom end sweeps you up and pulls you along for the ride. Clearly in full on party mode, Tanzmann has once again become the facilitator of no sleep.

Every now and again an artist collaboration comes along that simply makes you stop and listen. The new single from Mark Knight, Green Velvet and Rene Amesz is one of those moments. 

At the end of 2016, Toolroom head honcho Mark Knight spent some time in the Rotterdam studio of fellow label favourite Rene Amesz, the result of which was a powerful electronic Tech House track that was begging for a vocal. There was only one man who could complete this monster collaboration and take the track to its full potential. 

Green Velvet has added his now trademark lyrical intelligence – talking of the worries and paranoia of a digital generation that is constantly monitored and surveyed by afar. The combination of his cryptic yet memorable vocals alongside the power and energy of the track makes for a compelling and unforgettable record. Fluid, atmospheric tracks set a consistently lush vibe overall, from the esoteric kickoff track Journey Into the Self to subtle warm-up tools like the oriental-instilled Hummus and Fafnir, or the couple’s first vocal collaboration Pure. Fellow Cologne singer Inga Nelke brings a touch of sensuality with her soft vocal chops atop a broken beat-infused melody accented with gripping piano chords.

But it’s in club tracks that the album abounds, found often in antithetical pairings, whether it’s the marriage of a Moog bassline and warm Caribbean rhythms in Detroit in Limbo or the juxtaposition of analogue and digital rhythms on In The Woods, created using sylvan recordings as percussion. It’s the title track Mind Palace, however, that reaches the apex of antipolar combinations, displaying a breakbeat-heavy lead doused in exotic vocals perched onto a steady bassline, underlining the artists’ knack for innovative rhythms.

A nod to the classic heydays of acid comes in the shape of Acid Flashback, centred around a massive synth hook courtesy of the iconic Roland 303, a tinge slightly present on the spiralling fierce cut Asmoday, albeit a fraction more subtle.

Energy is one of the key traits of the album, as Branko and Niklas conceive a copious amount of hard-hitting tracks that amplify and engage towards the second half of the record. Black Beauty oozes stamina from the get-go, its relentless groove guiding a subdued bassline and minimal elements towards the peak point. With Natural Takeover, a tech powerhouse with a tenacious lead and ominous vocals, the album reaches its darkest corner of the Mind Palace universe.

All in all, the artists showcase a plethora of straightforward tracks with heterogeneous sound aesthetics, where a closer listen can only reveal further and more elaborate depths.

We miss the days of spontaneously releasing music. Kölsch sent "Left Eye Left" to us last week and felt the need to immediately release this to the world. So without further ado... 

"Left Eye Left was originally intended as a part of my 1989 album, but in myriad of demos i had for the album it got lost in the finishing process. 

I rediscovered the demo just before my Eiffel Tower set, and decided it was a fitting ode to the city of love, so it was included in my set.

The Hamburg based producer recently surprised the scene with his longplayer „Scene From A Dream“ and makes the next big step with tight and techy grooves now. The song is breaking up the clouds just to close them again after you’ve seen the warm lightning beams for a moment. Carl Cox is an industry figure head whos legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

This latest offering from Intec features two new and previously unreleased remixes of Carl Coxs classic track Your Light Shines On.

Your Light Shines On was originally released in 2016 as part of Intecs landmark 100th release, and the two new heavyweight remixes are provided by Pan-Pot plus Chus & Ceballos.

German duo Pan-Pot to most fans of the techno genre need little introduction having first made a name for themselves on Anja Schneiders Mobilee, before starting their own successful label known as Second State.

Spanish collaborators Chus & Ceballos focus their sound more towards house music, and along with releases on their own label Stereo Productions, have also featured on imprints including Toolroom and Defected.

Carl Coxs original version of Your Light Shines On has an underlying techno groove with tribal percussion plus Jamaican style steel drums, and each of the remix artists has focused on the elements most commonly associated with their genre in order to make the track their own.
