The first release of the year from Hot Trax comes from the German duo Raumakustik, with Jamie Jones on remix duty. Having had recent releases on a Grain Audio, Ipoly & Mangue Records, “Raider” is their debut on the Hot Creations subsidiary.

Raumakustik deliver a high energy and rhythmic track with ‘Raider’. The industrial tech-heavy sounds are perfectly mixed with catchy drums and a calling bell. Over on the B-side, Jamie Jones delivers a darker remix to drive music lovers to the dancefloor.

Sebastian and Volker are Raumakustik. They have been creating music together for a number of years and believe in creating tracks that will not only bring listeners to the dancefloor but also stay in their memory.

Jamie Jones launched Hot Trax in 2012 after wanting to create a label that moved away from the well-known and popular sounds of Hot Creations. It has been described as a label for the “headstrong” with previous releases coming from Patrick Topping and wAFF.

Monkey Safari - Ctrl X (Hannes Bieger Remix)

What makes everybody's darling duo Monkey Safari so special is surely their authenticity; with their striking debut album ‘Odyssey’, this meant producing the same kind of tracks they were playing as they toured nightclubs and festivals around the world, rather than simply a listening album. The result was a dance floor artwork. And while they may be perfectionists, they’re certainly no purists, carefully handpicking remixers they see as most capable of continuing their vision for the album.

Split in 3 separate EPs, ‘Odyssey Remixes – One’, ‘Two’, and ‘Three’ will be released in May, June, and July 2018, featuring reworks of the original album tracks by the master himself, Carl Cox, international stars Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Tensnake and Reboot, studio geniuses Dubspeeka, Hannes Bieger, ROD, and Phil Moffa, as well as up-and-coming talent Avidus, Trivmph, and Hommage label co-chief Karl Friedrich.

Carl Cox: “Being a fan of Monkey Safari, it was a pleasure to do this mix for them, this track was the one that got me, the moodyness, power and the layers of sound, is musical art to me. I just wanted to compliment what they have always done and make a Coxy version, by reversing the bassline and slamming the drums. I am so happy that you guys like it. I am playing it out and it’s moving the floor.”

Reboot: “Being asked to lay hands on one track of the last Monkey Safari album was a big pleasure for me, as I have been a fan of their work for a while. Even though it was rather challenging, as the original is a perfectly produced floorkiller. So I tried to bring the track into a more dirty direction with a long breakdown, but without leaving the original`s idea too much. I hope people enjoy the results.”

ROD: “Thanks to the great original parts, both my remixes flowed out of my system quite naturally. I was happy to do two complete different remixes. Where ‘Prologue' is more about peak-time techno-energy, with 'Sign' I tried to create a much more psychedelic underwater-ish vibe which I think worked out quite well with that soothing vocal."

Avidus: “For our remix of ‘Sign’ we took a very minimalistic approach. The vocal speaks for itself and in contrast to the original, we we were aiming for a less rave oriented version, for special moments at open airs...“

Hannes Bieger: “The studio work connected me with Monkey Safari now for quite a long time, as I have also mixed the Odyssey Album with the original tracks. I generally like their music a lot, as many of them are musically on my wavelength. During the mixing session for Ctrl X I used my Moog Modular just for fun and jammed something into the almost finished track which the boys apparently liked a lot. I rarely do that in the studio that I kind of cross a line and start to play to a client's project. I respect original projects a lot and usually don’t want to impose myself on anyone. But in this case, I just got so inspired - and the boys too.”

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead whos legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell, and the new release is a techno focused EP from Eats Everything.

As his fans already know, Eats Everything is an eclectic artist who is hard to pigeon hole, and recently his chunky sound tailored for the dance floor has started to incorporate a lot more techno.

Having first broken onto the scene following EPs on labels like Dirtybird and Petz Records, he has quickly risen through the ranks adding labels like Relief, Hypercolour and Crosstown Rebels to his impressive back catalogue.

Eats Everything is a successful solo artist but many will also be familiar with collaborations working with people such as Justin Martin, Green Velvet, Tiga, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Catz 'n Dogz and Claude VonStroke.

His first Essential Mix for Radio 1 is still widely considered one of the best, and his techno tracks and remixes have already found homes on labels including Pan-Pots Second State and Matador's Rukus.

Having already rubbed shoulders with many of electronic musics most iconic artists and arguably becoming an icon himself, its only logical that Carl Cox would be the next person to welcome Eats Everything into the fold, with this being his debut on Intec.

First on the EP is Bettah which centres around the thump of a thickset kick drum and filtered synth stabs. All about the down beat, the tracks jackin groove and rigid sound is brought to live with the energy of the soulful vocals stabs. Straight up techno with a party vibe this track is sure to set the dance floor alight.

Appropriately titled No Seatin Available the second cut on the EP makes you want to be on your feet while punching the air to the beat. Using tom drums to build a rolling groove, the tracks raw funk and dark atmosphere will have people rushing to the dance floor from all parts of the club once this gets hold

Making his debut on Nic Fanciulli’s Saved Records this month is rising DJ and producer, Siege with his ‘Motion’ EP. Ever evolving his sound, Siege’s latest productions have taken a slightly darker turn resulting in support from Adam Beyer, Yousef, Alan Fitzpatrick, Nic Fanciulli and Hot Since 82 and welcoming releases on respectable labels Toolroom, Circus, Strictly Rhythm and Toolroom Trax. Title track ‘Motion’ kicks things off with an infectious bassline, distorted vocals and trippy synths coming into play. Crisply mixed percussion and a pulsating low-end takes the lead on B-side, ‘Paradigm’, with hypnotic vocal hooks and dubbed out transitions making this a peak time weapon.
