During the Calling Our Circle online gathering of Integral Coaches™ a few months ago, East African-based Integral Master Coaches™ Christine Guchu and Sarah Forde shared the insights they’ve gained from creating and leading the Beyond Your Edge personal development program for young African leaders.

In this 4-minute audio clip, Sarah describes the motivation behind Beyond Your Edge and the impacts of the program so far. Christine then dives a little bit deeper into how the program is structured and why they felt it was important to offer their participants a balance of group coaching and individual coaching.

Integral Coaches™ are able to do incredible things with their training. Attending to the development, hopes, and dreams of others is a way of making the world a better place. 

In order to be able to do this though, we need to be able to be with what is, no matter how imperfect we feel it might be. Whether it’s the state of the world, the state of the person in front of you, or your own state, lasting change requires an acknowledgement of what is. Being able to do this then opens the door to discovering an answer to the question, ‘given what is, what now?’

One way we build this capacity to acknowledge and be with what is at Integral Coaching Canada is through mindfulness. Our classes and events often begin with a guided meditation to drop us in to a direct experience of what is right there in the moment, so we can move, act, and learn from there. 

At the beginning of a panel on Integral Coaching® and social activism at the recent ICC Conference & Retreat, ICC Senior Faculty member Steve Beckett took participants through this guided meditation to connect with their Inner Activist.
