𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧: Resistance is both integral to analysis & a counterforce to its progress. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Conceptualized as defensive structures & often crystallized in #character traits, resistance protects against painful affect & emerges in object relations regarding the #therapy dyad. In narcissistic patients, #resistance sustains defensive organization & functions communicatively. Resolution enables progressive communication that reestablishes links with the broader world.
