Sorry for missing last week's playlist. I've been super busy with work recently. Hopefully i've made up for it this week with 15 house tracks from around the world. Turn it up and enjoy.

Jetlag is a Brussels based duo combining deep, progressive house and UK Garage. Not only are they known for their unique sound but also their dj sets with live violin have a strong reputation. Dali came out as a free download and topped off the 200.000 plays on their SoundCloud page in only one year time. Atmosphere Records decided it was time for Jetlag to come out with their first Original EP. They teamed up with Stereoclip who through his music makes us discover a world of his own.

The original Dali has that voice that stands out. It will work on the dance floors as good as for home listening. The Dali remix contains Stereoclip's trademark with the slow tempo build up, he takes us on a journey through his musical universe. Last but not least Jetlag ends the EP with 'Something About You'. The marimba riff, the lyrics and the piano set the vibe, touching emotions that every listener can quickly connect to.

01. Dali (Original Mix) Feat. Moise & Luiz Marquez

This song is one of my favorites from the new album "A Song Across Wires". I wrote this track on acoustic instruments (guitar, a six string fretted cello I had built that's like a bass or baritone equivalent of the viola de gamba, glockenspiel and others). Tydi and I worked together on the track (beats and bass) over email and eventually in person. We had a blast in the studio on this and eventually the culmination of these efforts was sent in a rough state to the country artist Plumb.

She wrote a wonderfully simple and catchy vocal. We worked with this vocal for a while and it became apparent after some time that her management and representatives had a different idea about what this song should be and what it should be for so we began looking for new singers (still bummed about this, Plumb is a great artist).

Enter Tanya Zygar. She is friends with Tydi and we sent her the track and she wrote a beautiful verse melody. I sang a multi-track chorus top line and sent it back to her. We went back and forth with iterations of lyrics and eventually settled on a nautical theme (which I love). Stem the Tide is an expression originally used to mean that a ship was sailing against the tide fast enough to make headway over the ground or to move faster than the tide in the opposite direction. 

I spend about a week after all this doing vocal editing, glitching and comping and eventually laid the vocal into the final mix.

All said and done, this song probably took in work hours the better part of 2 months. I worked on in in Logic 6.43 on a 24bit PT rig (OS9), OS X Logic 7 and 9, Live 8 and 9 and was stem printed from Logic 9. 

My favorite thing about it is the acoustic instruments playing in tandem to the analog synths, plugins and glitch elements. Very proud to share this one with you.

Alle drei haben in diesem Jahr herausragende Podcast-Ausgaben für uns aufgenommen. Daher ist es für uns ein wirkliches Weihnachtsgeschenk, dass genau die drei sich für einen tollen Track verbündet haben.

Das Original von Jacob war bereits im September in seiner Podcast-Ausgabe zu hören. Eine sehr ruhige, reduzierte und gefühlvolle Nummer. Mira und Chris haben dem Track nun etwas folkloristischere und lebhaftere Züge verliehen, ohne aber den Flair des Ursprungstracks zu beschneiden, der vor allem den sehr behutsam eingesetzten Vocals zu verdanken ist.

Uns macht es wirklich sehr stolz, dass wir nun heute, quasi als Weihnachtsgeschenk für all unsere Leser und Hörer, diesen Track ganz exklusiv vorstellen dürfen. Länger ausgespielt wird er dann natürlich auch in unserem X-Mas-Set zu hören sein (http://soundcloud.com/frueher/das-haett-es-frueher-nicht-33), bevor er dann zusammen mit dem Original im März bei UNDERYOURSKIN RECORDS auf Vinyl und digital released wird.
