Tony Y Not is an artist working and living in New York, the place where dance music and indie bands seem to have been crossing over for a long time. Her music and this mix is a reflection of that, but she's approaching it with her own touch.

"I made this mix in stillness amidst the chaos and focused on music and special songs to me that help me stay open and remind me of passion for emotional moments. A mix for summer lovers. In the very end I am closing with my own How About Lily released on Ombra Int a few months ago. I am jumping between post-punk, indie electro and pop. Swimming Pool by Yuma X is a curveball track in this mix that I have listened to 24/7 in 2017 - brings back old memories."

Dancers can always be sure of one thing with Moscoman, a certain unpredictability and energy will always define the music he serves up. As well as having a background in indie and rock, he plays house, acid, techno, dark disco, synth, all from a more alternative angle. For that reason, he is a regular at wide-ranging but iconic places like Space in Miami, Panorama Bar, Glastonbury and Pacha Ibiza.

Next to all this, Moscoman continues to focus on building his Disco Halal label and brand into a real family. It is a place where artists like Simple Symmetry, Red Axes, Trikk and Auntie Flo have all freely expressed themselves. Like Moscoman's own approach to music, it is an unrestricted label that never fails to subvert and surprise.

Red Axes have just dropped the recording of a very special 5 hour set in Room 2. Now available to stream, this exclusive recording from this time last year is a deep-dive into the staple sound of the punk-edged duo.

Made up of Tel-Aviv Based producers and DJs Dori Sadovnik & Niv Arzi, Red Axes have been more than catching our eyes and ears over the past few years.  So much so, we’re keen to share our passion for the duo elsewhere, even taking them to other venues such as Village Underground for another special extended session earlier this year.

The pair have roots in rock music and begun their creative collaboration when they were in a band together. So perhaps it is unsuprising that today, their electronic music projects delve into a sound that roams through psychedelic electronica, post-punk and new wave elements, often dipping into a retro rock and 80’s hued sound that first fuelled their sonic spark.

We have a special mix and the last one from 2022, we invited the Italian Dj/Producer Speaking Minds, such a great guy and super involved on his passion inside of Electronic music. @speaking_minds

Speaking Minds is the musical project of Italian DJ/Producer Simone Sinatti, active in the international music circuit from almost a decade and part of circolocoibiza crew where he’s responsible for the Circoloco Radio programming. Resident DJ of the infamous Florence party Lattexplus, flagship of Italian clubbing, he also manages the successful label AEON as A&R together with founder Alex Niggemann. Being in the game for quite a while, in the last years things seemed to be shaping up nicely for him: some highlights of his recent years have been his gigs at Circoloco, ADE, Extrema Outdoor, Village Underground, Oasis Festival, Watergate, Cocorico and Off Sonar to name a few, sharing also the decks with some of the most respected djs of the globe including Laurent Garnier, Seth Troxler, Ben Ufo, Bedouin, Gerd Janson, Job Jobse, Palms Trax, Bambounou, FJAAK, Recondite, Pantha Du Prince, Miss Kittin and Marcellus Pittman.

His music has been regularly supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Dixon, Ame, Job Jobse, Jennifer Cardini and Mano Le Tough among others. With quite a few releases on AEON and My Favorite Robot Records, 2019 opened new doors for Speaking Minds: after his ‘Jupiter Express’ released on Correspondant, he followed up with “Blue Days”, track included on WhoMadeWho’s compilation for Watergate Records. Year continued with his return to mother label AEON with an EP accompanied with remixes by Fort Romeau and Moscoman, premiered via BBC1 Radio and gaining huge support all over the world. After COVID’s break, 2021 sees Speaking Minds releasing an official remix for Telepopmusik's classic track "Breathe" on Virgin Records and his biggest discographic accomplishment so far: a track on brand new Laurent Garnier's label Cod3 QR.

IM MIX 99: Speaking Minds

Mauricio Rebolledo is one of those veteran artists who has stood the test of time. He can play Burning Man, go back-to-back with DJ Tennis and mentor young producers with unwavering finesse, staying true to his signature sound of sparse, psychedelic chuggers. Where many of his peers have embraced a more commercial sound, the Mexican artist likes to keep it weird, opting for touches of Krautrock and hazy atmospherics in both his sets and on his albums.

He tends to be associated with tribal drums and screwy trance, but in reality, the Hippie Dance cofounder and long-time Kompakt affiliate is a man of many influences—as heard on his RA Podcast. Whimsical interludes of French dance pop and retro synth-wave are interspersed with shoegazey electronics ("Dive" by Pale Blue) as well as plenty of his own productions, which blur the lines between minimal house and techno. 

This is a hypnotic, brooding journey that starts and ends with versions of Justus Köhncke's "Elan," which adds to the mix's loopy feel. (There's also a Prins Thomas remix thrown in for good measure.) No peaks or climaxes here, just long plateaus of zigzagging synths and winding chords. Turn on, tune in and drop out, as they say.
