Much like Derek Fisher, Internal Definition was never expected to reach any of the heights he has already achieved. Internal Definition was laughed at when he first stepped foot on stage and now is an artist that has fans around the world playing his music. Derek Fisher started as a short point guard out of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock who became one of the most clutch, championship achieving point guards to ever play the game of basketball. This is what Internal Definition and Derek Fisher have in common; they have defied the odds and made a name for themselves even when others mocked and laughed at the thought of them reaching greatness. When there was .4 seconds remaining in Game 5 of the NBA Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, people again doubted Derek Fisher and wanted the ball to go to Kobe Bryant for the game winning basket. Derek Fisher proved the critics wrong and hit the game winning shot that everybody thought was impossible. Internal Definition is making his way towards his .4 shot, will you turn off the TV and say the game is over or will you stick around despite the odds and witness a moment of greatness?

We remember the day our manager came into our studio aka drew's living room apartment to show us this new band he was going to sign to Disruptor Records. The first record he played us was this tune Overload and we were hooked! We had never heard of them before but we proceeded to listen to 10 more songs of theirs and we were blown away. Their sound was so refreshing from the instruments to their vocals. There was a summertime quality to all their music that couldn't be denied. Flash forward a couple months and we had the chance to meet them in LA. We proceeded to do what any dudes meeting for the first time would do, we through a mansion party at a buddies got totally blackout and missed the call time for what was our Let You Go music video. Flash even more forward and Overload is taking over top40 and they are about to drop their next single Dreams! The boys were cool enough to let us take a shot a remixing overload and putting our touch on it. The song itself is already just so amazing and vibey... its like drinking coconut water on a beach while getting a foot rub and someone somewhere else transferring large sums of money into your bank acct. SO we figured why change that and just change the foot rub to a back massage and money to a kiss from a chick you really are into but didn't know she was also into you.... So without further adieu... our remix of Overload!

As a 1st generation Muslim American growing up in America, Freeway was one of those dudes who I looked at thinking, "I can actually be a part of Hip Hop culture and maintain my faith." I remember watching State Property 2, when Beans got locked up, he met Free in his cell while he was reading Qur'an. That imagery got me hyped. Free is one of those dudes who has always represented Islam to the best of his ability, and for that, me and him were brothers before we ever met each other. I had to get him on this monster of a beat Curtiss made...As for the cover art, this wasn't the original cover. I cooked up some artwork I thought was cool and shot it over to @BlameTheLabel. This dude basically hit me back and told me it was wack, so I went to Home Depot and bought a Bush Daisy, repotted it in a Pyrex, set up a white backdrop, snapped a pic with my 5s, and went into some editing. While channeling my inner artist, I believe I created a juxtaposition which matches the song perfect. Freeway brings that street shit in the record. My upbringing was a little brighter, so that's what I bring to the table. Hence, "Deep Gritty."
