Episode 6 - Softmatter

Softmatter is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist, music producer, vocalist, and DJ exploring mutant, discordant electronics, alongside bouncing, stony drums and pitch-shifted vocals that travel between steepled choral motifs. She has released on renowned labels such as Halocline Trance, Infinite Machine and Berlin-based Soulfeeder. 


Her mix is ​​both a dark and melancholic approach to the thoughtful moments on the dance floor, situating the listener somewhere between dark ambient, industrial and the hazy afterglow of the vaporwave era, while at the same time giving us a glimpse into her hyper-futuristic vision of club music, enriched with elements of deconstructed club, post club and neo-trance.

Hyper Real Radio 007: Softmatter

Softmatter is a Berlin-based producer, vocalist, and DJ blending complex rhythms, mutated basslines, and voice-driven club experimentalism.

Active since 2013, she has performed at Boiler Room, MUTEK, and SAT Montreal alongside artists like Andy Stott and Nkisi. Her EPs Muscle Performance (2020) and Hyle (2021) showcase her bold, deconstructed sound. Currently in the studio, she continues to refine her sonic language through new releases and live performances.

We've been keeping our eyes and ears on @b_say for a good while now, all starting with his first release on @sub_garden. Since then B-say has evolved tremendously as an artist releasing on labels like @badmanstudios, @instigate-recordings and @substantialaudio.
Besides his obvious evolution as a producer, he's also built a loyal fanbase with his bi-weekly radio show on the ever-impressive @subtlefm.
This time he joins the @fatkidonfire family with a mind-blowing four-track EP.

'Empire' announces his debut EP with its suffocating lows and spiky synths, but it's the keys that really set this one apart. Power. 
Additionally, 2020 marks FatKidOnFire's 10th birthday and personally I can't wait to see what they've got in store for us. 
As a word of advice, keep your eyes and ears directed on both  B-Say and FkoF. They won't disappoint.
