The 16th release of katharsis is the EP “Internal Presence” by the label founder, jjjacob. This EP is the follow-up and counterpart to his earlier release on the label “Journey Before Destination” which came out half a year before on March 8th. On this release, jjjacob returns to his usual uncompromising electronic sound after exploring more minimalistic and acoustic facets of his musical expression on the preceding EP. By blending uncanny choirs and obscure samples with peculiar synths and IDM-inspired drums, jjjacob’s melodic universe brings the listener on a sonic adventure into a fantasy-infused world.

While “Journey Before Destination” sought to explore the heroic struggles of a poignant pilgrimager, “Internal Presence” examines the magical sensations and daunting emotions of otherworldly transformations. Starting from the grandiose trance-infused intro anthem “Shapeshifter”, the EP quickly develops into the curious yet introverted exploration of an exquisite domain on “Realm of Essence”. Following this, immense feelings and existential contemplations are presented through ethereal harps and hymns of lost spirits on “Lethal Sentiment”, before angelic creatures serenade about the destination of our eternal journey on the closing track “Terminal Bliss”.

Board [form] Concrete is the Denver-based producer and DJ carving jagged structures out of noise, rhythm, and distortion. His SoundCloud—shared under the alias Bumba Jones—hosts a handful of raw experiments, but it was the 2025 single "Rodentia" that really set the tone: a grinding, forceful cut that channels grit and subterranean tension into pure impact.

First spotted at Sanctuary, Board [form] Concrete has since caught the attention of curators like The Incubator and platforms including Radiate The World, marking him as a voice pushing deeper into the experimental underground. Beyond solo work, he is also one of the co-founders of 8g Tower, a Denver-based art and music collective shaping its own imprint on the experimental scene.

For Beats&Bliss, he delivers one of his most entertaining blends yet—threading harsh, distorted post-club pressure with sudden lifts into euphoric, pumping classics. The result is a mix that balances abrasion with release, holding listeners between cathartic collapse and hands-up energy.

Peter: It’s like a lullaby. And it continues to repeat over itself and then stays in your head, instead of ‘let the words do the talking’, which is a clear chorus song. In the previous question, I said the word genre, a word that can be very disliked within certain music scenes. In this album, you navigate through drum and bass, shoegaze, DIY, trip hop, folk, spoken word, and so many genres. It is all done in a seemingly effortless manner, but did this come naturally?

Dorian: I think the fact that we're both doing editing helped a lot. I'm doing video editing, and Ryo’s doing sound editing of films for a living. So it's something we are comfortable working with. You have different layers: lyrics, melody, rhythm, textures, and the way they’re combined can create different stories. It’s like a long walk where you’ve got interactions that bring you to another one, and to another one, etc…

Ryo: It’s funny because we both grew up learning how to play and write music within a band, where we mimicked stereotyped genres, but for this project, it was a completely different process. You have to lay all of your materials inside a timeline and figure out how they can coexist and evolve together. I think that’s why we never actually talked about genre.
