A fine balance has always been struck between new and emerging talents and established names with plenty more to say, and that is the case on this collection which features the legendary likes of Blawan, Gary Beck, Colin Benders, The Advent and Dax J next to ANNĒ, Alarico, JakoJako, Chlär, LDS and many more.

Founder SHDW says, "I've poured my heart into curating a compilation of 36 tracks, a reflection of my deepest musical passions. The result is twelve tracks between ambient, IDM, electronica and Melodic Techno exploring the story from all angles and feelings.

A sound narrative of great finesse, affirming the richness of Maxime Dangles' production work and his ability to draw singular landscapes from which strong emotions emerge, following in the footsteps of Hans Zimmer, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' original soundtracks, while exploring the most experimental side of club music.

Maxime Dangles entered the electronic music scene 15 years ago on the Kompakt label, collecting prestigious remixes (Moby, Green Velvet, Simian Mobile Disco, Kittin & The Hacker...). Reference of the international electronic scene, he’s renowned for his immersive and singular sound design that he shapes with his modular synths. But for the last 4 years, Maxime Dangles has slowed down his club dates to devote himself to this type of creation, to the spatialization of sound, in places such as the SAT in Montreal and to the SONARS arts and sciences project alongside researchers from the CNRS, who took him on board at the heart of their research on the islands of Saint-Pierre and Micquelon.

[Premiere] Maxime Dangles - Presentation (In Between)

Time is always speeding up. I feel like we just came out of the New Year's celebration, but the truth is, we are a whole quarter done with 2024. It's time to take a break and possibly slow down. I'll be off for a couple of weeks, recharging my batteries somewhere on the coast of France, but before I leave, I've got one more exciting track premiere to share with you today. This one is courtesy of French producer Maxime Dangles, who previously showed up here with a Pavane Remix of his "Operate" back in 2023. I liked the pure energy and musicality of that piece, and I was excited to preview his upcoming new full-length, titled Le Roman De Carpentier, which the French National Cinema Center commissioned as a soundtrack for the 1913 silent film celebrating the first French boxing world champion. Turning to his arsenal of modular synthesizers and club gear, Dangles focused on blending a perfect balance between ambient, electronica and techno across the twelve tracks on the album. The result, full of excitement and, once again, raw energy and grit, is what has genuinely drawn my attention to some of the pieces here, especially the ambient composition titled "Papa", this being Headphone Commute and all...

Martyyna - Written In The Scars

Martyyna’s debut album Written In The Scars is an ironic play on the cliché that our destiny is written in the stars. More likely, our life’s stories are influenced by the scars we carry within us and by our coming to terms with them. Martyyna looks for such confidence on the single This Time, where a reverberating clock chime intertwines with her hazy vocals submerged in sampled water droplets, owl calls, or birdsong. Emerging at times only to repeat a hopeful wish: “This time... don’t make me cry.” A music video for the track, shot in the Canary Islands’ desolate and burned-out land, serves as an inspiration for the album's visual design and the future AV set with Igor Lorok presented at the Lunchmeat Festival in September 2023. The album cover views the body as a similar landscape, recording the imprints and bruises of past happenings and absorbing them into itself. The story of finding the strength to keep going continues on the second single, Distorted, inspired by data loss after Martyyna’s first live-set. Past feelings of anger and misery melt into a complex and stuttering production, her deepened vocals intertwine with jittering synth arrangements, slowly rising in pitch and gaining courage. Distant, muffled echoes are trying to break free, regressed traumas are coming to the surface, demanding attention.

After a process of healing, overcoming and getting lost in a dream, the voice of Martyyna fuses with that of the Czech producer Oliver Torr on Sunshine Girls and with the musician Portento’s on the closing track Invitation. The album ends with light, calming duets – two voices finding harmony at last, extending a euphoric invitation. An invitation to breathe in. To rest. To finally not be scared of one’s own self.

On Written In The Scars, Martyyna delves deeper into her work with vocals, first introduced on her EP AWAKEN, and perfects her layering of textures, tonal shifts, gradation of rhythms and deconstruction of string instruments. Rather than awaking, however, she’s now plunging into more atmospheric dreamscapes. Crafted with both chaos and care, Martyyna’s tracks are made of diverse building blocks reflecting her mood shifts and despairs as well as her meticulous craftswomanship gained working as an architect. Only here, forming physical structures in her waking life is interchanged with sonic worldbuilding of her dreams.

Curley, Tony Panella, Spirituals, Robert Cole Rizzi, Pas Moi, DR, Mark Waldron-Hyden, Vitaly Maklakov, Andy Klingensmith); artists that have been generous in helping me bring my visions to life via the physical and visual mediums (Vitaly Maklakov, Thaniel Ion Lee, J.S. Curley); artists whose work I have had the pleasure and honor of releasing on my humble netlabel Warm Milk Recordings (Andy Klingensmith, Daniel J. Gregory, Tony Panella); or artists whose work has simply inspired me (Uneasy Chairs, Erinome, and every other artist already listed here), your work has helped shape the art that I make. This mix is dedicated to you.  

The mix encompasses a vast variety of experimental styles ranging from electroacoustic sound art, ambient music, field recordings, noise worship, and everything in between. The styles heard on this mix can not only be seen as a list of inspirations but also as a sort of mirror image to the sonic pallet that I present on my upcoming tape on the Enmossed label, "Lignum Muzek." Ever since deciding to start making albums under my given name, my vision has always been to create compositions that enter many different sonic territories, even within the duration of a single piece, and to weave these pallets together in a narrative-like fashion. I was able to take one step closer towards this vision with the creation of Lignum Muzek, especially on longform title track pieces which can almost be seen as miniature mixes of their own. This mix opened a door for me to impose my creative mixing style on artists whose music helped me to form my style to begin with, thus creating an endless loop of interconnected, communal, inspiration and sound that will forever be feeding back on itself, flourishing, and growing. "

Pour ce premier Tikkarpaccio de l’ère du Verseau, Théo Muller nous plonge dans les coins sombres de la musique électronique. Du dub à l’EBM avec quelques gouttes d’acid, d’indus, de trance ou de rock psyché, il glisse de l’ardeur à l’hypnose avec souplesse. Affilié entre autres à Lumière Noire, Vastechoses, Worst ou encore Concrete Music, c’est aussi le boss du label breton KRAKZH, sur lequel il a sorti son premier album Gouzañv Pe Unaniñ le mois dernier.
