juSt b makes her debut on the always high-concept Configurations of Self label with a stunning new EP alongside label boss Alexander Church. 

Toronto-based artist juSt b has spent the better part of the last seven years dedicated to refining a diverse palette and style which is unquestionably, uniquely her own. As an accomplished DJ, radio show host, label manager, published writer, industry ambassador, and genuine story teller, with no shortage of curveballs in her repertoire, she’s never afraid to take risks and explore new avenues of expression. With a top-rated monthly DIFM show - Undercurrents, and three European tours in 2019, she also acts as co-manager for Getting Deeper and recently joined forces with Alexander Church to head up Configurations of Self.

Yorkshire-based producer & sound designer Alexander Church is an adventurous artist, on the scene since the mid 90s, making everything from melodic soundscapes to industrial techno under a range of aliases. Without setting any creative boundaries, he draws consistent inspiration from his own deep thinking and desire to tell a personal story. 

His Configurations of Self imprint, fusing academic teachings, music, and passion for visual media, has grown signifi-cantly since its inception in early 2019, seeing frequent guest appearances by the likes of Jody Barr & James Welsh. Each piece of music represents emotional responses to the processes, feelings, and self-awareness that Church has experienced through his study of psychology and counselling. 

This new release, Configurations 12, features juSt b’s smooth, thought-provoking and mindful vocals inspired by hu-manistic view points that both artists share, delivered as life-affirming musings that add a fantastic layer of emotional depth and positivity to Church’s always avant-garde futurist productions. 

The opener ‘In The Field’ swirls with spoken word vocals that place you in a dream-like state as harmonica pads ripple all around and deep, smooth beats move you onwards. An instrumental is included which makes for just as celestial and cathartic listening as you are suspended in the lush production. 

The second superb offering, ‘Curious Paradox’, is another post-rave mix of IDM, techno and ambient, with the alluring vocal element fusing teachings from renowned psychologist, Carl Rogers, encouraging you to accept who you are today so that change becomes easier. It’s a deeply uplifting trip to the outer edges of our galaxy on gorgeously mellifluous pads, arps and melodies. The instrumental strips back the track to the mind-expanding synth work and makes for an even more detached affair. 

These are tracks that connect on a mental as well as physical level, with moving psychological overtones that make them full body experiences.

Here For Now is a project that was written in order to help me process what is happening in our world and in my reality this past year. The writing process was therapeutic and unforced. I allowed the music to flow without giving myself too many guidelines to follow. This E.P is about escapism as well learning to deal with reality on realities terms. All the right influences from ’93 are there while still sounding fresh! Being one of our favorite records of 2021 so far and it just being Ftzzgrld’s first EP on vinyl we might be getting ahead of ourselves when we say we’re already excited to hear more from both Ftzzgrld & Roy Comanchero!

Echo Brown's new track 'Love Won't Do' tugs at the heartstrings. It's tech-y, growling drum 'n' bass, but glowing vocals push the buttons necessary to bring your feelings to the surface. 

The track's taken from his forthcoming 'Struggles' EP on Lenzman's label The North Quarter, a hub for soul-soaked d'n'b, and the Raleigh, North Carolina producer said: “This project really has been a culmination of a lot of different emotions I've felt over the past few years. Some of the tracks I wrote well under stress of the usual circumstances we all deal with while living out our lives."

DJ and producer Malcolm came to our attention through his tastefully curated label, Global Warming Records, a platform that are making the end of the world sound just as they like it — just how we like it too.

Since starting the imprint Malcolm has brought friends and new producers into the fold, the likes of Ouai Stéphane, N-ERGY, Jon Beige and Sutja Gutierrez, who have all showcased their own take on dub-wise atmospherics, dystopian bass experiments and heavy syncopated rhythms.

Freshly moved from Paris to London (literally - he got off the plane a couple of days ago), Malcolm brings a touch of the dystopian and cinematic to his own productions too, which have landed on labels like Abstrack and Biologic.

Not one to churn out mixes regularly, he's prepared something very special for us. Weaving together obscurities and unreleased edits finished especially for this, Malcolm shares the moods and sounds at the core of what he does.
