The very nature of being human allows us
to hear and perceive multiple sounds at the same time. Indeed, our ears were designed to receive and analyze various auditory stimuli simultaneously. Through percussive and compulsive rhythmic patterns, baransu creates a dimension in which our sense of hearing is continuously stimulated. Strong dynamics and analog synths accompany in a clear but never dominant way the live drumming session. Sometimes glitchy, sometimes extremely spacious and experimental, this track helps
the listener to explore the potential of human hearing and its limits. The sound experience
is further enhanced by the additional work of two exceptional remixers. Katatonic Silentio interpretation of IS builds up to an atmosphere of uncertainties and unknowns, which keeps the listener on the edge till the end. Similarly, the English producer Pessimist makes the track his own by giving to it a more club oriented imprint that moves away from the feeling of spaciousness of the original, and rather it winks at the genre of jungle.

💬 J Plates continues to deliver with latest instalment Got 2 Have U EP, featuring a throwback 2000's sound packed with characterful attitude; perfect for a dance floor shake down or inner city stroll. Shifting away from the earlier Atmospheric Jungle sounds that the UK based producer has been so fond of, J Plates latest offering takes influence from an era where funk & breakbeats were emphasised with it's steppy breaks, crunchy overtones and persistent bass lines providing the soundtrack for those longer summer months, while still raw enough to align with that old school brashness of decades past.

Title track Got 2 Have U sets an immediate tone for the release with it's brooding pads, euphoric vocal licks and layered stepper breaks keeping the feet & mind moving; while  Revelations follows up with it's darker response of fizzy pads, arpeggiated synth & upfront drums rolling throughout the stripped back arrangement to close off the first half of the EP.

Taking things down a notch, Need Me presents a lighter approach with it's Jazz tinged melodic elements, shuffled breaks and notey sub bass oozing with a more laid back groove. Closing out the release enters final track All This.. with it's uplifting vibe, playful synth & vocal chops and alongside a recognisable gliding bass line sure to heat things up; overall offering a refreshing batch of material dripping with a rich musicality & solid sonic aesthetic.

💬 Enforcing a firm stand with his latest offering Gate To Mars EP, J Plates returns with a barrage of new material sure to please fans of the more darker spectrums within Drum & Bass/Jungle. Loaded to the brim with a serious arsenal of dance floor destroyers, it's clear J Plates has been fostering a fond enthusiasm for more hard edged tracks without compromising on nostalgic quality or leaning unnecessary on latest trends.

Title track Gate To Mars launches in head first with it's militantly chopped up amen break & sinister technical elements, while switching things up with a deadly counter of sub bass & an apt vocal dialogue establishing a forward momentum. Meanwhile, Deception slides in next full of smoothly crafted funk & underlying mystery, with it's multiple reese lines, subterranean bass line & bubbling arpeggiated synth run to counteract the brooding narrative.

Fill The Blanks strikes next, with it's hard nosed break, plucked melodic stabs, and twisting counter of techy synth/bass lines & heavenly vocal lashings in order to ramp up the pace with persistent urgency. Anthemic final track Change Your Mind rounds off the release with it's triumphantly catchy vocal refrain, gritty break, squelching synth tweaks and growling bass line converging together in an assault of sonic severity best served dark and loud.

With releases on Skalator Music, Omni Music, In Reach, LW Recordings, Offworld Recordings, Audio Theory, and on his own imprint, J Plates has been a prolific and an active force in the scene for quite some time. You can spot J Plates’s influences on his approach to make music, such as that old school 90’s vibe that every junglist identify with, rich atmospheric character, a more nostalgic and musical sound within the Drum & Bass and Electronic Music spectrums influence, and recognised sonic qualities.

'Sirens in the Deep' is the lovechild of a live jam session at Rackz282’s studio between Rackz282 and @eyezabsc. The session was recorded in late September 2023, to then be moulded and shaped from stems into two individual yet single source tracks, showing both artist’s approach at the medium.

'Using the same base material, this EP is an exploration of each artist’s approach and perspective on a condensation of hardware stems and sounds. Sirens in the Deep explores long and progressive motifs that evolve, twist, turn and intensifiy throughout; reflecting the fathomless depths of the creative process.'
