In the year 2017, rogue agent Eliza Mitchell silently infiltrated government systems and databases across the globe using a mysterious audio file known as "Alert."

Next up for JUDDER series of singles and EPs — a "FOMO SAPIENS" EP by Intersecta, a project by Alexey Kalyan that explores various directions in electronic music. His very first release is the result of his long-term passion for underground sound which serves as the debut statement of his long musical journey. Expect four clever cuts of diverse grooves where breakbeat meets electro with a garage tip and blends together in a genre-melting potion. Two slow-paced uncompromising body-movers full of shuffling rhythms, dystopian riffs and ever-enveloping bass intertwine carefully with spacious thought-provoking ethereal soundscapes and Bukem-ish synths lines built around rapid famous old-school breaks.

[Premiere] Intersecta - Synthetic Dawn (JUDDER)

In May, longtime Vief collaborator halle o’malley got in touch with an idea. She’d come across the Instagram of a 17-year old Palestinian musician called Samih, who’s life has been torn apart as a result of Israel's recent onslaught on the Gaza strip. Their home destroyed, Samih and his family were forced to flee to a refugee camp in Rafah. During their displacement, Samih has gone viral posting videos of himself singing and playing a borrowed oud.
 
Having spoken to Samih and received his blessing, Halle planned to sample a video of his and donate the proceeds from the sales of that track to a GoFundMe set up for him and his family. Halle approached the label with the idea of scaling this project up by inviting other producers to sample Samih themselves or provide original tracks of their own.
 
Madhoun now stands as a compilation containing four productions sampling Samih, an interlude, and nine other dance tracks generously donated by producers from across the world.

Wisconsin-based producer and drummer Chants (The Trilogy Tapes, Maximum Airtime, Astral Plane Recordings) meets master drummer Dave Schoepke on this all-drums LP for Brussels-based Maloca Records. ‘Speleogenesis’ blends live drumming with dub techniques and dancefloor-informed production, guided by imagery of a subterranean world. It’s a full-circle moment, as the two met when Chants (aka Jordan Cohen) took drum lessons from Schoepke during his teenage years.

The recording process began with Chants creating skeletal demos for Dave Schoepke to improvise on. Schoepke recorded many layers of drums and percussion, running some of them through his hardware synthesizers. Chants then shaped these recordings, resulting in the cavernous dub techno track ‘Pressure Slide’, the Brazilian-influenced ‘Ritmo Crudo’ and ‘Ritmo Puro’, and the uptempo, slippery dancehall dub of ‘The Quickstepper’.

Chants then assembled a new palette of samples from this core and constructed dancefloor-focused bangers like the hyperactive ‘Cyclone Rhythm’ and minimal 170 bpm ‘Rafter’, adding his own homegrown breakbeats. As the album took shape, the music kept evoking mental images of caves, tunnels, and underwater caverns that in turn influenced the final pieces. ‘Notes from Underground’ and ‘Speleogenesis’ present a more unfiltered view of Schoepke’s nuanced drumming. ‘Airbell Dub’ was also created using material from one of Schoepke’s meditative solo performances. Finally, ‘Cavernicole’ features both drummers in full duet mode, trading phrases over an insistent kick drum pulse.
