Lush feminine pads and floral textures intertwine with broken trap-like beats on Joshua Booth’s latest project, STV. He reimagines a kind of dream pop where the songs are continually collapsing and dissolving. Using elements of shoegaze, along with beats and sub bass closer to hip hop/dance music, this release sounds like Ivy Lab after traveling through a black hole. Although experimental with his use of rhythm and textures, the sounds and textures remain familiar, keeping it somewhat familiar and accessible. Booth created these compositions by designing algorithms in Max/MSP making this a creation aided by another of his creations. You certainly have not heard many records like this one. Much of this can be seen as a nod to Booth’s past shoegaze and experimental hip hop projects including All Natural Lemon & Lime Flavors and dälek. It’s a true marriage of his past and present.

The second single, "The Candy" from MRC Riddims' debut full-length, Sicka Than Your Average.

The album drops March 2, 2018 via Internet & Weed (Harlem, NYC), and collects original tracks with features from Subtitle (GSL, Alpha Pup Records,) Miss TK (of Miss TK & the Revenge,) and John Morrison (Deadverse Recordings) alongside MRC Riddims remixes of Norway’s Serena Maneesh (4AD, Smalltown Supersound) and Scandanavian Skwee legend, Melkeveien (Dod Pop).

MRC Riddims is the DJ/production team of Alap Now and Merc Yes from Harlem, NY. Their single goal is to make the heaviest fun possible on the dancefloor. Absorbing genres from minimal techno to dancehall to house and everything in between, MRC Riddims manage to bring their NYC flavor to all that they touch and rarely get too close to the limitations of any one genre. A deep thump and a playful bounce are a common thread throughout their distinct sound. Even when they journey into their deepest, heaviest moments, MRC Riddims never take you too far away from that feeling you had the first time you stepped into a roller rink as a kid!
