Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon January 31st: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch434

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

KO:MI releases new song  “Flooding, No Rain”
First new KO:MI material since last year’s We Said We Didn’t Know but We Knew album.
KO:MI releases “Flooding, No Rain” on the 23rd April 2021 via Soliti.
Of the new song Sanna Komi (KO:MI) explains "I originally wrote this song for the Acoustic Guitar Project, in which you're given an acoustic guitar, a recording device and a week to write a song and record it in a single take. The format is really inspiring and I ended up liking this song so much that I wanted to do a studio version of it, still keeping to the minimalistic quality of the original. I wrote it just before the release of my We Said We Didn't Know but We Knew album in the end of last year, and thematically it is a continuation of that album. It is a song about the fragile materiality of life as we know it on Earth and the absurdity of things like owning a piece of a planet. What does that even mean? The consequences: climate change, biodiversity loss, extreme weather, are all happening in front of our eyes."

"Reaching for the Song" is the first debut release of mine as a solo artist. The song itself is moving, personal, engaging and and described also as "uplifting' by some. It is open to interpretation with its meaning -as are any songs in my opinion as an artist and listener/fan of music generally - hoping to reach to listerners who connect with the notion that sometimes we have good intentions, try our hardest at something and yet are "falling" or feel we are failing despite our big heart's intentions.

His formative years were spent singing and touring professionally with choirs, and playing ‘cello with orchestras. When this period of his life - a half, up to that point - came to an end he found himself burnt out, without a sense of identity. Seeking self-discovery, he rebelled. After a time adrift, his love of making music returned for good. Fergus turned his ability to blend into a strength, achieving harmony with his guitar and himself.
