Globally acclaimed talent Shingo Nakamura recently released his "Only Silk 02" compilation on parent label Silk Digital, featuring his original track "The Four". On Silk Royal's latest single, we're thrilled to present a new remix of this cut by Sundriver, another of our imprint's most decorated veterans. He has been writing euphoric, often Balearic-tinged progressive for the better part of a decade and looks forward to an exciting 2014, with several standout remixes arriving in the new few months alone. For the second track in the release, we've invited fellow progressive trance craftsman Talamanca, a first-time contributor to Silk, to remix Shingo's classic "Sapporo". Talamanca, like Sundriver, has enjoyed wonderful radio support in his career on some of the world's leading trance-centered radio shows.

Sundriver's remix of "The Four" asserts itself right out of the gate, with a driving rhythm, while uplifting pads and arps begin to infiltrate the mid-range. By the quarter turn, a symphony of melodic elements has conspired to overpower the listener with a lush and emotive soundscape. Yet, the track highlight does not occur until the break, when we are truly swept away by a light breakbeat, coupled with a mellifluous, Ibiza-influenced guitar riff. The stunning drop to follow features all of the melodic layers in harmonic unison.

Dutch talent Talamanca also starts his remix of "Sapporo" in driving fashion. We are soon met by several of the original's most memorable themes. Talamanca succeeds in making this interpretation his own by contributing numerous new variations on the lead motifs, all of which are truly breath-taking. In the main break, a powerful, trance-influenced lead is introduced, giving his take a bit of extra muscle for the dancefloor.

It is our great joy to present Shingo Nakamura & Max Flyant's "Only Silk 03", the third edition in the annual compilation series, inspired by the acclaimed Frisky Radio show of the same name. A two-part compilation of 26 progressive house, trance, deep house and chillout cuts, written by a variety of celebrated international artists, "Only Silk 03" showcases the "classic" progressive style of Silk Digital on Shingo Nakamura's mix, as well as the signature deep house vibe of affiliate division Silk Textures on Max Flyant's opening mix. Silk Digital and Silk Textures label manager, as well as "Only Silk" radio show co-host, Max Flyant is thrilled to join Shingo as co-presenter of this year's compilation for the first time.

Japanese sensation Shingo Nakamura is one of progressive's most beloved talents and has contributed more tracks to Silk in our label's history than any other artist. With several artists albums, countless top-charting singles, and international DJ events to his name, not to mention consistent radio support by many of the world's leading house, progressive, and trance DJ's over the last few years, Shingo continues to find inspiration as an artist, never failing to captivate audiences with his exceedingly emotive and visionary compositions. Leading, as usual, by example, Shingo features a brand new track of his own on Only Silk 03, "Tribute, Chapter II", as well as a previously unreleased remix by SineRider of one of his most famous compositions, "Hakodate". Optische Täuschungen oder wie es besser heißen würde atypische Sehsituationen haben schon viele in die Irre geführt. Sie entstehen, da unser Gehirn das Gesehene mit gelernten Erfahrungen verbindet. Wer also öfter Donald Duck sieht als Bugs Bunny, ist eine lahme Ente? So einfach ist es leider nicht. Sehforschung ist ein kompliziertes Gebiet und die Erklärungen über die Entstehung bestimmter optischer Täuschungen sind oft schlechter nachzuvollziehen als das deutsche Steuergesetz. 
Illusionen entstehen aber auf keinen Fall, weil unser Auge faul oder tolpatschig ist. Sondern weil unser Kopfinhalt alles besser weiß. Unser Gehirn hat gern das letzte Wort beim Thema Sehen und verdreht daher ab und zu die Tatsachen. Angelehnt an eine alte Bauernweisheit könnte man sagen „Was das Gehirn nicht kennt, sieht es nicht“. In solchen Fällen wird lieber eine Interpretation des Gesehenen, welches sich an bekannten orientiert, übermittelt als das tatsächlich Wahrgenommene. Klingt zu kompliziert? Dann denk mal darüber nach warum du eher zwei Gesichter im Profil oder die junge Dame siehst.
Aber ob nun Vase oder Gesicht wichtig ist das Wesentliche nicht aus den Augen zu verlieren. Nur so ist man in der Lage hinter die Maskerade zu blicken. Wer das falsche Spiel durchschaut hält selber alle Trümpfe in der Hand und kann selbst dem alten Besserwisser im Oberstübchen noch ein Schnippchen schlagen.

Aufgrund seines wachen Verstands und seinen klaren Blicks haben wir Sascha Kloeber auf die Reise in die Welt der Täuschungen und Illusionen geschickt. Mitgebracht hat er uns eine deep story, bei der selbst Ente und Hase Hören und Sehen vergeht ;)

An optical illusion is a truly mystifying phenomenon which leads many people astray every day. That’s because our brain connects the observations of our eyes with something that the brain has already experienced before. So, if you look at a picture of Donald Duck but you’re convinced that you see Bugs Bunny, does this mean that you’re out of your mind? Well, it’s not as simple as that.
The research of the sense of vision is a complex domain of science and the cases are often more complicated to interpret than a tax law. But it’s clear that these bizarre phenomena are no coincidence. The brain thinks it knows everything better when eyesight is concerned and it won’t hesitate to distort the objective observations of the eyes.
There is an old folk wisdom which says ‘what the brain doesn’t know, it’s unable to see’. In such cases the brain prefers to guess what the eyes may have seen and tries to match the observation with something familiar it knows already. Sounds complicated?
Did you ever wonder why some people see faces in profile while others see the young lady, while they are all looking at the same picture? Or why some people see a vase while other see a face while observing the same thing?
The people who can see through this masquerade of their own making have unleashed the power to rise above the limitations of their own brain.

This deep story is a journey through the unsettling world of delusions and illusions. Such a hazardous trip is only recommended under the competent supervision of a guide with a sharp mind and a clear vision. And we found the perfect guide for this delicate mission: Sascha Kloeber.

The Saqqara EP is a multilayered, sonic canvas from the mind of Chris Barratt, as he launches his new alias, Barratt, for Life and Death. Fine brushstrokes move from all areas of his musical hideout, spreading over five, varied, aural sculptures, each one warping and weaving on its own cosmic trajectory. Pooling from key aspects of his Eagles & Butterflies project, Barratt induces new musical shades, hinting at moments of disco and funk, through a lens of psychedelia. 

The title track is a late-night floor-filler - a bold yet uniquely personal necropolis built from riveting delays and arpeggiators. Time Bending sees DJ Tennis join in, stepping up with his trademark, rough around the edges production aesthetic, en route to unknown destinations. Barratt hones-in on a confident, stripped-down style on Khaos - rhythm versus melody -  just in time for festival season. 1983 soundtracks a ride to utopia on a rocket-fueled Vespa, leading to Collider, the land of un-quantised madness, where the most treasured of synthesisers live amongst their drum machine counterparts. 

Flowing yet incredibly interconnected, Saqqara is best interpreted as a mini artist album - the first of many Barratt offerings.

Silk Digital Records is thrilled to present Shingo Nakamura's "Only Silk 01," the first in a new compilation series, inspired by the acclaimed Frisky Radio show of the same name. A continuous mix of thirteen new progressive and deep house cuts, written by a variety of celebrated international artists, "Only Silk 01" showcases the "classic" progressive house style of Silk Digital, as well as the signature deep house vibe of affiliate division Silk Textures. Who better to launch this exciting new annual compilation than Japanese sensation Shingo Nakamura, one of progressive's most beloved talents and an artist who has contributed more tracks to Silk over the last 5 years than any other? With an album ("Sapporo") and countless top-charting singles to his name, not to mention consistent radio support by many of the world's leading house, progressive, and trance DJ's over the last few years, Shingo continues to find inspiration as an artist, never failing to captivate audiences with his exceedingly emotive and visionary compositions. Leading, as usual, by example, Shingo features four of his own works on Only Silk 01, including three previously unreleased productions.

The mix begins with "Viridian," the debut single by Shahin & Bench, an exceptional, UK-based duo, with a polished, veteran sound that belies their newcomer status. It is no surprise that Shingo has chosen to kick off the mix with this one: the track centers on a poignant lead piano theme, a style for which Shingo is equally known. Latvian duo Blood Groove & Kikis, a true contender in the breakthrough artist category in both deep and progressive house this year, are responsible for the next track in the mix. Their elegant remix of Liuwik & Airdraw's "White Collar" sustains the soothing, sentimental, and evocative mood. Dapple Apple, the brilliant progressive house composer who also hosts our Silk Textures radio show, is next, with "Telling The Speechless Story." Shingo's mix "sinks" to even greater emotional depth and clarity with this vivid, intricate, and richly layered composition. Fellow Russian talent Stan Chetverikov contributes for the first time to Silk with "Sensation," the fourth track in the mix. The rhythm picks up a bit with this one, courtesy of a chunky groove, while the the melodic tones subtly and delicately float and echo throughout the song.

The first of Shingo's own new tracks is next, an inspired remix of "Science," originally produced by house legend Nick Hogendoorn. Building off of the percussive energy of "Sensation," this intriguing new tune includes a cinematic dialogue sample in the main break, as well as a crescendoing and hypnotic lead arpeggio, which explodes into the drop. Shingo's subsequent selection is the lush, deep house cut "4U," written by Ukrainian artist Yuriy Mikhailov (better known as meHiLove). This romantic tune is highlighted by a heavenly female vocal sample and a variety of gorgeous piano motifs. Rainbow Addict, who has appeared on every Silk compilation to date (including both "Silk Royal Showcase" albums), offers "Feeling Of The Raindrop." The break is especially notable in this one, as the 'raindrops' take the form of a stunning bell-tinged solo, while vox stabs dance above. Two Argentinian heavyweights, B.O.N.G. and Rodrigo Deem, have teamed up for "Clean Slate," which stands out immediately for its more dancefloor-friendly bassline groove. These two brilliant artists, both Silk veterans, also imbue the tune with tremendously rich melodic layers, which are felt most deeply and resonantly in the main break.

The final third of the mix begins with a triumphant tune by Shingo, entitled "There For Me." This track possesses an "exoticism," as well as an overwhelmingly mellifluous and moving melodic progression, which create the sensation of being transported to a distant land, perhaps even Shingo's native Sapporo, Japan. Ad Brown, one of Silk's most accomplished artists, has teamed up with label newcomer Anushka De'sai on the radiant and euphoric "Apsara," the tenth cut in the mix. This melodic gem features a gorgeous chord progression, which is punctuated by a variety of delicate, fluttering arps and piano melodies. Shingo next treats us to his own remix of 19 Hz's "Round & Round," which was recently released on Silk Royal. He follows with his brand new song "Whither," the penultimate track in the mix. This jubilant cut showcases all of Shingo's signatures, including a euphoric lead synth and chord progression, which truly sparkle in the main break. Closing out the compilation, Shingo has enlisted trusty label veteran Sundriver, whose remix of Shingo's own "Move On" remains one of our label's proudest moments. A master craftsman of melodic and, above all, atmospheric progressive, Sundriver leaves us with "Cast Away," another quintessentially escapist aural experience, featuring a Spanish guitar and even a sun-kissed, beachside soundscape, in full, Balearic splendor.

One of Silk Digital's leading lights, Shingo Nakamura, is responsible for our latest offering, "There For Me", which was initially previewed on Shingo's own "Only Silk 01" compilation. Since the debut of this album in late 2012, Shingo has become a co-host of the Frisky radio show of the same name and has continued to garner radio support from the industry elite.

The Original Mix of "There For Me" transports the listener to Shingo's homeland of Japan, with sweeping chords and stunning cinematic instrumentation from start to finish. This is truly one of Shingo's most inspiring works to date, as it not only possesses a warm groove, but an intricate and richly melodic lead.

Breakthrough artist KIWAMU offers the first of two interpretations in the single; a fellow Japanese artist, KIWAMU has gained momentum this past year, with a variety of high-profile contributions to Otographic Music, the nation's leading progressive and trance imprint. His version is much more atmospheric and deep, but equally evocative. In the main break, the listener feels himself traveling across the fog-swept landscapes of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Finally, longtime contributor Monojoke, who has been supported over the years by the likes of Above & Beyond, Solarstone, Matt Darey, and many more, offers an ornate rendering. The talented Polish veteran once again masterfully enhances the rhythm, with a variety of "indigenous" percussive elements. Meanwhile, in the background, we are treated to the distant echoes of the main chord progression, as well as provocative pads.
