Αποσπερίτη, εσύ που όλα τα φέρνεις πίσω, όσα είχε η φωτοδότρα Αυγή σκορπίσει. φέρνεις το αρνάκι, το κατσίκι φέρνεις, φέρνεις και το παιδί προς τη μητέρα. γιατί την κόρη πήρες μακριά απ᾽ τη μάνα της;  μα δες...βρέθηκε λοιπόν η κόρη κάτω από το δέντρο ενός γλυκόμηλου. το γλυκόμηλο αυτό είχε μείνει μονάχο να κοκκινίζει στου κλωναριού την άκρη. στο στερνό, στο πιο ψηλό κλαδί πιασμένο,  τόσο μόνο, έρημο που και οι μηλοτρυγητάδες το ᾽χανε ξεχασμένο.  δίπλα από το κατακόκκινο γλυκόμηλο, πάνω στα ψηλότερα φυλλώματα κάθονται παρδαλές αγριόχηνες,  ποικιλόχρωμα δασιά κοκκινοπούλια και μαυροφτέρουγες αλκυόνες.  κάθεται και η κόρη κάτω από τη θαλπωρή αυτών των σκιών και τα κοιτούσε στα μάτια τα πουλιά. ξέχασε πως ήταν η ώρα η μάνα της να την πάρει αγκαλιά,  και μ' ένα γλυκό φιλί να την εμπάσει σπίτι.  το αλλόκοτο φεγγάρι όμως θα τη συνόδευε σε αυτό το ακούσιο φευγιό και κάλεσε του τραγουδιού τις αφέντρες ελάτε Χάρες τρυφερές κι ομορφομάλλες Μούσες, δυο λόγια αρθρώστε υπέροχα και φίνες μελωδίες
