As this journey accelerates, you run into a large dusty 4x4 on the edge of the forest; drive through the wild side of the world around you, and find joy with friends. You stop off at a nearby village and are taken by the spirit of dance. 

As passions intensify, rhythmical and syncopated beats of this electrifying impulse ingulf your entire being. 

The night fades, and you wake up in Liberia; charged by the rhapsody of the night. Letting the MAGICAL and MYSTICAL vibrations emanating all around you communicating the language of LOVE.

Due to  her penchant for aesthetics, she thoughtfully sources and selects stimulating and rhythmical sounds, keeping her sets refreshingly melodic and ardent at the same time. Though Goiabas approach to music has always been indecisive, she constantly maintains a playful yet bold sound while leaving room for progressive groove within the borders of house and techno realm.

Last April, I was invited by señorita @lotte-ahoi to Slowmotor in Berlin and oh man! Such fun, such love, such energy! <3 

This set builds up gradually from mellow, ambient earthly sounds to an intense hybrid of cumbia and tribal, it can sound a bit crowded at times for this reason. But hey, I do intense or I don't!

LOLAHOI – Slowmotor, Berlin

The city of Dresden has been struggling with the refugee crisis and now, more than ever, locals are unifying forces to welcome all refugees into the city. The result of such efforts was the TOLERADE, a parade of more than a dozen trucks all playing music and spreading good vibes all around the german city. I was invited by the Love Foundation Dresden to close the parade and was more than thrilled to see boys and girls, Europeans and non-european dance to my tunes. The set ended up being quite fast and tribal...the mix rises and falls, ebbing and flowing from peak to trough throughout as it gradually builds to a steady groove. It then ends with one of my biggest musical inspirations: Radiohead.

Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy New York City! This is, ladies and gents, a little dream come true: the recording of my birthday set at Studio 151 in Manhattan.  

The set builds up gradually from mellow, ambient sounds to an intense hybrid of African rhythms, earth shaking latino jams and some very (very) deep bass lines! A truly Lola Villa set –– I'm incredibly proud of this one. Enjoy <3

Studio 151 – NYC 02062016

I've been disgusted by what's been happening lately. Such hatred and racism, it makes me mad. Violence doesn't change, only the way we get to see it changes -- and I'm so fucking sorry. More than being a DJ, I'm a storyteller. I want you to listen, I want you to be touched, I want you to be moved. I want to make you reflect on who you and I are as human beings. Beyond race, religion or class.

So, at any rate, I was invited to play at Ruigoord's Georgieswundergarten, at the Conscious stage (how suitable!) and I wanted to reflect on my feelings, my thoughts and my pain for those black lives suffering (In the U.S, in South Sudan, In Chocó, Colombia, you name it) through music.  So this is is, this is an ode to my Afro Colombian heritage, to the empowerment of black female artists in the United States, and to sub saharan musical richness and glorious rhythms! 
IS IT BECAUSE I'M BLACK

It's a deep yet such a rhythmic set, 1 hour of the entire 2-hrs set. With loads of vocals: from Celia Cruz to Nina Simone -- all power Afro women! Enjoy. Love, Lola.

Georgieswundergarten - 09072016 / IS IT BECAUSE IM BLACK set

Nothing compares to playing in a 35-degree weather with a Brazilian samba school band. Nothing. But this recording comes pretty close to how it all was in Cluj, Romania. This set was inspired by those Brazilian marimbas and drums played live while I did my thing. It then evolves into a rather dark mix with a broad palate of eclectic rhythms that don't fix into one box. And of course, the ever-present tribal sounds are there, like my shadow they will always follow. 

I couldn't help myself and played the Sun Sun Damba edit of Peter Power again (again, again!). I just couldn't help it. <3 Endless love for that track.  Pajaro lindo de la madrugada! Pajaro lindo de la madrugahh! Sun sun! 

Thank you UNTOLD Festival for having me. Romania, bring me back.  Photo was taken in Poland that same weekend. Also a happy place.
