starting the night with a delayed train ride from den haag – babycurls still managed to deliver the bangers right on time. While international traveling might come with some difficulties – during the live set every delay, every effect and every transition from rough to soft and back was intentional. Hans Zimmer meets LMFAO meets Gaga meet Vines meets the distinctive style of babycurls. As snowfall was pouring down heavily outside of soso space, you could find warmth and peace in the chaos inside. Babycurls really mastered the mixture of ambient sounds, noise and break patterns and they are upholding an energy throughout their live set which is catching from beginning to end. As it says in their own promo text: “These babycurls serve fast paced and hard hitting babybeats, noisy
storms and a tasty mix coming straight out of their digital musical blender. They aren‘t afraid to make a mess as long as the fits are cute and the sub is on.” This night 4 subs were on and you’ll hear the echoes ‘til infinity.

Playful and curious, enigmatic and energetic, with a love of small details and grand gestures: Belia Winnewisser’s musical language is personal. Enjoying a piece of her music is like having a conversation with the Zurich musician, listening to an entire album is like a day spent together.

Her first record Radikale Akzeptanz (2018, Präsens Editionen) was released after many years in various bands (Evje, Silver Firs, a=f/m) and studying music and media art at the Bern University of the Arts. After SODA (Präsens Editionen, 2021), her third album The Essence Of released in July 2024 on the Cologne label SPA – a search for the origin of the self in music, and ultimately an open self-portrait. In between, she released two rhythmically gripping EPs, Mother Earth Took Poison In Her Soil (Die Orakel, 2022) and Tid (with Luca Durán, Präsens Editionen, 2023), which draw on her experience as a club DJ.

Her upcoming EP, Mirror, is on the horizon and set for release in April 2025.

Winnewisser finds a balance in collaboration, whether with the video artist Subrihanna, as a composer in projects for theater and radio plays or by passing on her skills in music production workshops for FLINTA* artists – here Winnewisser explicitly opens herself up to the experiences and ideas of others.
