This release heralds a significant milestone for Iron Shirt Recordings, but also representing both the first album and the first vinyl release for Rednote. With its core ideas and themes written while immersed in Leeds underground music scene and compiled as a final project while secluded on the south coast of England during lockdown.

A sacred place, a place where one is free from intrusion.
The name Sanctum represents an adjective for the escapism of studio sessions during this time as well as the atmospheric and ethereal theme of the album that aims to portray the emotional push and pull of finding stillness while living through intensity.

The physical side of the album showcases the core of the Rednote sound, upfront 140bpm with rolling drums and heavy sub bass, while the digital side contains further exploration of UK bass, jazz and world music influences. Like a sanctuary from the chaos of the world, the album encapsulates moments of introspection and release, echoing the duality of existence: the relentless intensity of life juxtaposed with moments of profound stillness.

Underpinning the albums concept is collaboration with one of Leeds finest rising producers Gnasha, “Onslaught” combining choral atmospherics, harmonic guitar melodies, growling mid basses, heavy sub lines, shuffling percussion and jazzy sampling.

Expanding on the sonic landscape of the album, we delve into remix territories starting with the luminary artist "Biome" delivering an intense rework of "Onslaught," infusing it with his signature style. Meanwhile, the esteemed duo "Dark Entity", lends their expertise to craft a mesmerizing remix of "Outsider." These reinterpretations further enrich the album's tapestry, seamlessly blending with Rednote's original vision to create an immersive auditory experience.

This is a 12-inch Vinyl Sampler featuring only the A and B sides. When you purchase the 12-inch Sampler, you will receive a digital download link of the complete release on its release date, which includes the C side.

From New Zealand, Graysound came to us with this hybrid project, especially designed for his own sound system. This playlist will inevitably push subwoofers to their limits. Even tho the project is vocal intensive, the great balance between electronic and acoustic frequencies forges a distinctive sound. Each track is unique, backed by your classical reggae vibes and a flavour of darkness, it's your choice whether to shift to the other side. Strong bonds and collaborations arise for the creation of this piece, Natty Campbell, Rider Shafique, Wreckage, Dark Entity, SKG's Dub Alliance, Young Gho$t, L Nix and Rains all took part in this journey individually raising the bar higher which increased the potential of each artist in their own area of expertise. The combination of all these different styles denominated the "Champion Sound", a proposal we could never reject. An original blend pushing our sound above limits and accross borders.
