32 months, 70 releases, 100 artists. Intricate Records has a lot to be proud of and, at the same time, has a lot of new challenges ahead. As of nowadays the label is definitely the leading sounding board of progressive and melodic house on the territory of Russia and former Soviet Union. But not the ranks and chart positions or fame of individual artists build the success of Intricate Records – it’s the painstaking work, solidarity and talent of the label team that enhance reputation and reliable partner status. The label has become an unfailing spring of high-quality music.

Over a year ago the label released its debut signature compilation, «Intricate Sessions». It quickly became a must-have for both music fans and disc jockeys who filled their players and record boxes with numerous tracks from those two CDs. Today the label is glad to announce the long-awaited sequel. In order to keep up with the good tradition, the responsible people for the 2014 edition are once again the label co-founders, PROFF and Vadim Soloviev.

The key principle remained the same – both producers built up their mixes literary brick by brick selecting only yet unreleased works. The compilation reflects the current tastes and the vision of modern electronic dance music as part of Intricate Records’ entire musical philosophy. No surprise that once again there are two mixes that review the full spectrum of the label’s sound, including numerous productions by its co-founders, residents and regularly-featured industry heavyweights like Lost & Found leader Guy J from Israel, leading resident at Colorize and one of Poland’s dance music scene flagships Sebastian Weikum or impressively experienced Boom Jinx from Norway.

Vadim Soloviev is known for his magic mixing skills, his 2014 selection outspreads from classical progressive with a blend of deep house, electro house and other on-demand styles of today. The track «Beyond» by Pete K is likely inspired by the works of Eric Prydz while «Buggy Funk» by Cramp dumbfounds the listeners with unexpected broken beats. Next comes the hit-single «Shout!» by Sebastian Weikum and «Be Real» that was recorded by Vadim Soloviev together with the British vocalist Drew Darcy, followed by optimistic mainstream «Centimental Crying» by Deep Lark and Chelyabinsk-based singer Irina Makosh. As a dessert come two vocal productions touching to the roots of our being: «Loving Man» by the Dutch favourites Envotion and «Point Of View» by a representative of the Ukraine, V I F.

PROFF is more close-knit in his mix. The first half is built of potential hits like «Robots» by Envotion or enveiling and laid-back remix of Amor Entrave’s «Something Else» by Evgeny Svalov (4Mal) and lyrical, full of piano modulations «Symphony» by the tandem LTN & Ad Brown. Closer to the second part PROFF intentionally gears up and hardens the beat. Prominent producers come into the game – you will notice these are the ones who like to perform in different genres and prefer to create very dancefloor-friendly works. Take a note of D-Mad who combined trance and progressive in his newest track named after the great Russian poet Pushkin. It is hard to walk past the techno-influenced «Audio Pressure» by Cosmonaut, assertive and nerves-rattling with its rapping-tapping «Blue & White» by PROFF himself or also Vladimir’s «You Wanna» with those provoking samples from cartoons.

It’s a warm welcome back to PHW co-worker Infinity State as we see Pil join back with us on the label, with another tremendous 3 track EP, this one called “Flight 32”. He is a producer working hard with his music, and we do believe it will be a great 2016 from him, as we already know he has some truly superb releases coming upon  variety of labels. 

For this release, you are to get your hands on a great blend of styles, still all in the progressive manner. The title track and opener as well is as mentioned before his brilliant track called “Flight 32”. This is a true club track, filled with crisp vocal adds, driving piano chords, pumping bass lines that is a pure progressive trance bliss and one that will etch to you right from the first listen.

The 2nd track, baptized as “Arex” is another driving progressive track, cool vocals, lovely melodic arrangements and a great groove built with pumping bass chords. It’s another majestic track from the US bound producer. 

As the 3rd production on the release, we see another twist from the young producer, where he delivers a more sun-drenched and “a smile on your face feel” with the track called “Significance”. This is one for the summer season, and we are delighted to see the great variety Pil takes, showing a wide spectra of his techniques. He is definitely one to watch for 2016!

If you’ve not yet come across Ryan Farish, well don’t feel bad. He’s a producer more interested in living and breathing music creation than he is shouting about it. Releasing it, over many a year, through his Rytone Entertainment imprint, it’s given Ryan free license to continue producing outside of electronic music’s established margins. 

Not trance per se, not New Wave exactly, EDM-ish… yet not, (ditto for chillout, electronica and a half dozen other subsets,) it’s an artistic latitude that’s served the US born-&-based producer handsomely. It’s seen him rack up a string of Billboard top 10s, become a co-writer of a GRAMMY Award-Nominated Recording and a YouTube channel along with fan created videos adding up to a view-count north of 73 million. His music is regularly featured on major US television networks, as well as motion pictures (most recently including the marketing of Despicable Me sequel). Very much the producer’s producer (with the sensibilities to match), his tracks are used in-store as part of Bang & Olufsen’s demo programming and he was handpicked by Audi for the carmaker’s Remarkable Audi video series. 

In November - in a rare break with his Rytone release tradition - Black Hole Recordings have secured the rights to his as-ever eclectic new single, ‘Stories In Motion’. 

In its Original Mix form, ‘Stories’ is another textbook example of what makes Ryan’s releases the unclassified, breed-apart productions they are. Imagine U2-esque guitars, prefacing halcyon synths and quixotic vocals (as lyrically infectious as they are verbal), all wrapped in an extravagant, radio delighting production.

On Sunny Lax’s remix, the Anjunabeats’ centurion moves ‘Stories’ emphasis closer to the trance end, booming up its bass and rearticulating the track’s mainline in a more euphoric fashion. 

Tying the mix package off, for his interpretation Sied van Riel goes all-in-trance. It’s not for the faint of floor-heart though. Metal-on-metal percussion, deeply resonating LFO, tech-grit and Hitchcock-tense sub-riffs conspire to turn Ryan’s ‘Stories’ into a tripped-out, late night ride to the club side.

Dutch artist Vince Forwards has been a prolific producer throughout the 2010s, with diverse compositional offerings, ranging from ambient and electronic to progressive house and breaks. Unlike some of his more recent releases, he has chosen a more atmospheric and chillout route for his wonderful new "Stay" EP, which also marks his official label debut. New dance music trends are quickly filling the dancefloors around the globe and the producers responsible for these innovations, standing at the forefront of this movement, sooner or later become top-level artists. Intricate Records, founded in early 2012 by Alexey Sonar, PROFF, Sergey Tkachev and Vadim Soloviev, to date has formed a label team and a loyal community of listeners and clubbers – fans of progressive and melodic house. Very recently the launch of the sublabel Intricate Cuts was announced, it is going to become an outpost for deep and tech house releases of Intricate Records’ residents and new names. Nowadays Intricate Records is one of the key players on the field of progressive and melodic house, it is active both on the native territory of Russia and former Soviet countries, another important mission of Intricate Records is the export of Russian sound to the countries of the world.
 
Consistently inviting both well-known producers and newcomers from all geographic locations to sign their music to Intricate Records, the label has accumulated a catalog of 29 releases during the first year of activity. You can find tracks by Intricate artists in the DJ crates and cases almost everywhere. Since the launch in 2012, the label has formed a specific concept and musical policy which distinguish Intricate from partners and competitors. Right before the summer 2013 begins, Intricate Records is ready to proudly announce the label’s long-awaited debut compilation «Intricate Sessions Vol. 01 Mixed by PROFF & Vadim Soloviev» which seamlessly unites the art of mixing and exceptional musical taste of the authors plus unique audio content – many exclusive productions were intentionally written and submitted for this project and have never been published before. While listening to both parts of the debut compilation, you will get an idea of the entire current sound spectrum of Intricate Records including works by the label’s founders as well as residents and prominent names like Boom Jinx, Answer42, Sezer Uysal, Suspect 44 and Matt Fax.

«Vladimir PROFF and me have already compiled mix CDs for various projects in the past, but those were explicitly limited by the labels’ catalogs or some other circumstances. This time the situation is completely different, – Vadim Soloviev reveals some of the details. – While working on the first volume of Intricate Sessions and being in the preparative phase, we felt like gleaning for the smallest bricks for the compilation framework, including a number of unsigned and unreleased productions. As a consequence, my mix totally corresponds with my current vision of modern electronic dance music, my personal taste and preferences, and globally with the musical philosophy of Intricate Records. This means, first of all, progressive sound in it’s classical form, both melodic and dancefloor-friendly, but not big-room arena style. Besides that, I added some deep house and progressive trance, plus even some proper, high-quality  electro house. Each track here deserves special attention, many works have been recorded exclusively for this compilation and I would like to highlight that some of the artists have shown their totally different creative sides, that is surprisingly amazing».

A friendship is one thing, but continuous development is vitally important. This is why the fellows decided not to take a break at the level of current achievements and grounded their own record label. «By the times someone discovers the points of coincidence with the colleagues not only in terms of business, but also creative sphere – that is always a positive experience! – Unification of musical efforts in frames of one label is our next and by no means unimportant step in creative self-fulfillment».

It is important to mention that the quad is not going to limit the newborn imprint’s catalog only with own productions. Intricate Records is also a promising platform for implementation of creative aspiration of other talented producers who feel themselves on the same wave quite often.

«Right at the moment there is no single record label which coincides with my musical taste and general conception, which I would like to see being embodied. Starting a new imprint with the fellow guys, I’m looking forward to the having the possibility of fulfilling myself as an A&R-manager and making the current musical world at least a little bit better. We are going to collaborate with our friends and associates from around the world. I certainly believe, if such projects are held with well-intentioned mood and built on relations of friendship, there are certain chances to make something special and terminative».
