Vested Recording label head and Chicago-based artist, RJ Pickens, takes the reigns of the Early Morning Reconstruction and turns in a mix laced with deep growling bass, driving percussion, melodic balance, thick vocal layers, and use of many of CiCi’s original track elements – with a vibe perfect for an underground club or an outdoor sunrise set. David Ciekanski AKA Matt Fax has transformed the world of progressive house, rising from underground star to a leading figure in the scene. With a unique sonic identity and prolific work rate, he has firmly cemented himself as a champion of the genre. Now Colorize is delighted to present 'Progressions', the second studio album from Matt Fax!

'Progressions' is the culmination of three successful years for the young musician after releasing his debut album 'Contrast' in 2017, during which he has released critically-acclaimed, successful singles that have resulted in tens of million of streams and spins on SiriusXM, BBC Radio 1 and Radio FG. He has received praise from fellow industry leaders including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Lane 8 and Chris Lake and he launched the inaugural, ambitious Colorscapes series with Colorize label-mate Dezza in 2019. This is all while touring the world from Europe to Japan to the US, playing standout events like ASOT 900 and Electronic Family in the Netherlands and embarking on a three month tour of the US with Jason Ross.

'Progressions' is a bold, expansive exploration of progressive house music, on which Matt Fax pushes boundaries and proves his polished, mesmerising sound is second-to-none. His second album sees the youthful producer emerge with a confident, assured approach, his experience allowing him to effortlessly craft fresh, breathtaking prog anthems that swell from nuanced to grandiose. With truly stellar production across the project with its finely-calibrated synth textures, banging, refined bass and an inescapable, relentless groove, Matt Fax finds a luscious sweet spot across these seventeen tracks.

Featuring singles including the driving 'Animal' with singer / songwriter Trove, the marauding, ethereal ambiance of 'The Wave' with Ava Silver, and throbbing and vocal-heavy production 'Set Your Sails' with duo RBBTS, Matt Fax employs contributions from a collection of exciting collaborators to great effect, punctuating the album precisely between his dynamic solo efforts. These include two mammoth anthems, 'The Greatest Thing' with Grammy nominated singer / songwriter Richard Bedford and 'Artificial', a stirring collaboration with friend and Trance legend BT. 'Blue' which finds Alex showcasing his remarkable combination of rhythm and groove once again. Spacious and energetic, it's a creation built around rolling bass tones and haunting atmospheres. Harmonic phrases and otherworldly effects converge as the first act unfolds, while ghostly overlays shift energy into the break. Surreal and tense in equal measure, timely modulation adds drama across the one-minute interlude, ultimately reaching a swirling crescendo as the beats fade to prominence, perfectly setting up a striking final movement. This is why the fellows decided not to take a break at the level of current achievements and grounded their own record label. «By the times someone discovers the points of coincidence with the colleagues not only in terms of business, but also creative sphere – that is always a positive experience! – Unification of musical efforts in frames of one label is our next and by no means unimportant step in creative self-fulfillment».

It is important to mention that the quad is not going to limit the newborn imprint’s catalog only with own productions. Intricate Records is also a promising platform for implementation of creative aspiration of other talented producers who feel themselves on the same wave quite often.

«Right at the moment there is no single record label which coincides with my musical taste and general conception, which I would like to see being embodied. Starting a new imprint with the fellow guys, I’m looking forward to the having the possibility of fulfilling myself as an A&R-manager and making the current musical world at least a little bit better. We are going to collaborate with our friends and associates from around the world. I certainly believe, if such projects are held with well-intentioned mood and built on relations of friendship, there are certain chances to make something special and terminative».
