São Paulo’s underground electronic scene takes the spotlight this September as Mau Maioli and Vasconcellos unveil their debut EP together, Rave, on Berlin’s Inner Shah Recordings. Though long-time collaborators across different projects, and co-founders of Synce, the influential radio show and label shaping São Paulo’s sound, this marks the first time the two producers have released a joint record under their own names.

The EP is a two-track statement of intent, steeped in nostalgia but aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

“Crow Groove” channels Italo’s pulse and collides it with the darker edge of disco and wave, building tension around sharp 80s synths and relentless club momentum.

“Rave”, the title track, shifts gear into the euphoric energy of 90s trance. It’s a tribute to the culture that shaped electronic music’s global rise: a fragantly contagious anthem designed for unity, release, and the collective high of a crowd moving as one.

With Rave, Mau Maioli and Vasconcellos capture two sides of the night: the shadowed, groove-heavy hypnosis of Crow Groove, and the ecstatic rush of Rave. Together, they weave a narrative that celebrates their shared roots while pointing toward the future.

We are thrilled to bring you a new release here on Textures from two of the Emergent Family’s leading lights: UK-based Skua and Joshua Ollerton.  

Both of these versatile artists are well known for their plethora of releases across the Emergent group of imprints, but working in collaboration they have both moved into new realms to produce an absolutely stunning deep beauty of a track. A friendship is one thing, but continuous development is vitally important. This is why the fellows decided not to take a break at the level of current achievements and grounded their own record label. «By the times someone discovers the points of coincidence with the colleagues not only in terms of business, but also creative sphere – that is always a positive experience! – Unification of musical efforts in frames of one label is our next and by no means unimportant step in creative self-fulfillment».

It is important to mention that the quad is not going to limit the newborn imprint’s catalog only with own productions. Intricate Records is also a promising platform for implementation of creative aspiration of other talented producers who feel themselves on the same wave quite often.

«Right at the moment there is no single record label which coincides with my musical taste and general conception, which I would like to see being embodied. Starting a new imprint with the fellow guys, I’m looking forward to the having the possibility of fulfilling myself as an A&R-manager and making the current musical world at least a little bit better. We are going to collaborate with our friends and associates from around the world. I certainly believe, if such projects are held with well-intentioned mood and built on relations of friendship, there are certain chances to make something special and terminative».
