We were fortunate enough one of our favorite venues took us in a rainy March day 2021.  They rolled out the red carpet for us and made us feel loved.  This is a very special song right now.  We should all listen to what was said 50 years ago.  It means more now than ever.  Its time to change our thinking, more peace less problems.

This is the first OESJ band song which I had the chance to add my guitars to. When I joined the band, the song was already there so I had to be quite sensible not to destroy its character and the wonderful vocals by Lin.
While the guitar in the first place was played with my Ibanez Jem I had to redo most of the parts during the process of writing. So, e.g. the main solo originally was much harder and much more distorted. The guitar you hear now - except in the very beginning - is my new white Charvel. I absolutely love the sound ...
Peter and myself asked Ralf finally to work the whole song over and make it slightly shorter compared to the original version, to have a more "Radio-compatible" style and length.
So, here it is :)

I started this tune with a set of Linn Drum samples adding an NI FM8 bass sound. Target was to achieve an 80s sound vibe ...
I needed about 10 tracks alone for the drums ... The track waited 2 months or so on my harddrive till I moved on. I recorded the sessions into the live view of Ableton and started adding layers. On top I have further FM8, Absynth and Massive sounds. In two places I added a small 'm'-choir. I layered some riffs with a Korg Volca Keys. Further sound elements came from Arturia's Drumbrute, Korg Volca Bass and Sample. The Sample I played with an RK002 Midi-Cable to be able to play pitched sounds for the middle 90s Eurodance part. 
I then thought about vocals and tried the Teenage-Engineering PO-35 Speak, I already used in OESJ's 'Into the Sun'. It worked and so I moved on with robotic vocals which gave the trend of the overall song then ... Finally I added some guitars. I doubled the lead synth in the chorus with my Charvel, put a Nuno-style guitar left and right before the end with Charvel and an Ibanez Jem. The latter is also used for the small funky riff on the right in the 90s part ...
All is done in Ableton Live 10 with Push2, Roland MX1 and Arturia Keystep.

CHERRIES, STRAWBERRIES & BUTTERFLIES
The title kind of speaks for itself, a gentle, friendly and uplifting tune that brings some vintage sounds in. A few different sections alternate with the main hook or signature to lift off or explore some different directions. I kept the instrumentation light and smooth, like a quartet setting, with very little overdubs for that vintage feel. Like those seventies recordings I love.
