Mr. Meeseeks is a fictional character from the animated series Rick and Morty, created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. First introduced in the 2014 episode "Meeseeks and Destroy," Meeseeks are blue-skinned humanoids designed to fulfill a single task. Brought to life by a Meeseeks Box, they exist briefly, driven by their goal. Once their task is complete, they vanish to end their inherent existential pain. If unable to achieve their purpose, Meeseeks rapidly descend into violent madness and insanity, often creating more Meeseeks to assist them.

Character and Appearance:
Mr. Meeseeks is tall with narrow limbs, a bulbous head, black eyes, and usually no hair, though some have small orange patches. They have a friendly demeanor initially, motivated by a desire to complete their tasks swiftly. Their catchphrase is a cheerful "I'm Mr. Meeseeks, look at me!" reflecting their desire for acknowledgment and the completion of their duties.

Television Appearances:
In their debut episode, Jerry Smith, unable to improve his golf game quickly, inadvertently spawns numerous Meeseeks who become increasingly desperate, ultimately plotting to kill Jerry to fulfill their task. Jerry's eventual success at a simple golf stroke allows the Meeseeks to vanish peacefully. Subsequent episodes showcase Meeseeks assisting characters in various tasks, highlighting their utility and absurdity.

Variations:
Several variations have appeared, including Mr. Youseeks from the Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality VR game, assisting players in difficult tasks. Additionally, red-skinned, surly Kirkland-brand Meeseeks featured humorously in "Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat," showing a less cooperative disposition.

Comic Appearances:
The comics expanded Meeseeks' lore further. Notably, the one-shot comic "Rick and Morty Presents: Mr. Meeseeks" (2019) humorously explored existential themes, following a Meeseeks accidentally tasked with discovering life's meaning. The character "Mr. Sick" serves as a drug mule Meeseeks, appearing as an antagonist in story arcs like The Ricky Horror Peacock Show and Rick Revenge Squad. Another notable figure, Master Meeseeks, acts as the antagonist in the limited series "Rick and Morty: Crisis on C-137," rallying enemies against the Smith family.

The "Meeseeks, P.I." series (November 2023) humorously casts Meeseeks as a detective assisting Jerry Smith, exploring a quirky interdimensional cable conspiracy.

In video games, Meeseeks Boxes appear as power-ups, notably in Pocket Mortys, aiding players in battles. The VR game "Virtual Rick-ality" further popularized Mr. Meeseeks. Mr. Meeseeks-themed skins and products appeared across various games and platforms, including Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

Merchandise includes Mr. Meeseeks-themed dice games, jack-in-the-box toys, and Pringles crisps, emphasizing his quirky, existential charm. Kidrobot produced popular Meeseeks-themed figurines, resonating with fans.

Mr. Meeseeks quickly became a fan favorite, lauded for humorously tackling existential dread. Looper identified Meeseeks as symbolic of the series, blending comic relief with philosophical contemplation. Screen Rant dubbed him a "cult hero," praising his dark comedic appeal. The Daily Dot highlighted his quotability and sympathetic nature, reflecting fans' connection to his cheerful yet tormented persona. GameSpot acknowledged his significant impact, calling him a standout figure in Rick and Morty lore.

Overall, Mr. Meeseeks represents a uniquely humorous yet poignant exploration of existence, purpose, and absurdity, solidifying his role as a memorable and iconic character within modern animation.
