The carcass of the cicadas stuck to the resin and the suffocating heat welcome me to a summer that will be long. Fighting against nature's response to anthropic erosion, I am ready, after a salty bath, to open the hammock and listen to this downtempo in the shade. The best moment of the day."

Lyon-based artist, Sanjib (@sanjib-4) always guides listeners into an authentic and richly textured world between ambient and dub-techno. Eager to share electronic music focused on emotions, he creates a universe dedicated to travel and introspection with his mixes. After several EP’s released on Oslated (@oslated) and Lett Records (@lett-records), Sanjib produced two albums "Lost Continent" and "Lost Planet" released on Huinali (@huinalidub) and Annulled (@annulled_music) during the pandemic period. These opus were an opportunity to explore new textures with a story guideline.

As the weather turns from the heat of summer to the first cool vestiges of fall, there is an energy upon the air. Twisting around people and places, turning leaves to amber and orange. Our companion mix for these times comes in the form of Seville based DJ, and producer Halos. His music is pristine, full of texture and details, flowing over listeners with natural samples and enveloping sounds. This mix embodies this and more, as we’re happy to have another Sunday in the books, this time with Halos at the helm.

These monthly released sessions brings you the best and the most diversity Ambient music can offer.This month Dutch artist Nies presents you her session for the month of November. A session with experimental sound and  soundscaping ambient music. A unique session to be enjoyed 

About:
Nies is the creative alias of Denise Pakes, the founder of the Rotate imprint and co-founder of the Rings of Neptune agency & kōrero. Originally from the Netherlands, Denise can be found juggling between Paris and Berlin, engaged continuously in musical exploration, audio-visual collaborations with like-minded artists, and organizing events with cultural activation in mind.

After studying ‘Image & Sound’ in the Art Academy & Conservatory of The Hague, Denise became increasingly interested in the ever-expanding audio-visual universe and its peculiarities. Persistently curious and relentlessly passionate in video, photography, and music, she found the natural outlets for her artistic expression, which led her to create her label and agency, explore the art of DJing, and produce both video and music. At the moment she’s following a master’s study at INA GRM in Paris.

Since falling in love with synthesizers a few years ago, music creation is now one of her main creative outputs and an infinite source for inspiration and joy. Warm soundscapes, strange textures, subtle atmospheres, and broad bass lines — her musical intentions either as a DJ or as a music producer are clear: to excite the listeners through an excellent curation of tracks, flowing organically, stretching time and bending space in pure harmony.

"I close my eyes inside a dark hangar. I wake up naked in the heart of a Greek island garden. I can hear a bee sucking nectar from the most spectacular flower I have ever seen. I get up and walk. I crash into a ramification of 4 rivers that connect in a sound spiral that hypnotizes. I sit the hours that become seconds. Meditation. The river feeds the trees on the bank. The smell of fruit salad is intoxicating. We carry eden. I open my eyes and continue into the hangar. It's over."

Hanyo van Oosterom (@sonofchi) aka Son of Chi started the ambient collective CHI in 1983. Jacobus Derwort, a musician friend with Hanyo was the first musician to join CHI. Together, they went to the magic rock “The Kallikatsou” on the island of Patmos, Greece. Here, Hanyo had stayed for months in a cave for some deep soul-searching. He heard CHI in the silence of the night like a message from out of space. Being together at the Kallikatsou they shaped the foundation of CHI, making handmade flutes from local bamboo and conducting field recordings of water, crickets, owls, goats, wind, etc. After several years of collaborations with musicians like Willem Cramer and Michel Banabila, they decided to start together the beautiful The Chi Factory with which released (with the help of Ario Farahani and his label Astral Industries - @astralindustries) some of the most beautiful records in the history of ambient music. Following the passing of group member J. Derwort in 2019, Hanyo van Oosterom’s legacy work brings about the next evolution of the Chi project: Son of Chi. The sound of Hanyo Oosterom unfurls lushly overgrown 4th world drones, voices, and field recordings, naturally drifting between time-slowing beats, FM radio interference, and languid instrumentation combining the western retro-futuristic point of view, the New Age, and the ancestral eastern tradition.
