Founders of klape nunsen (@klapenunsen), their sound is characterized by elegant and soaring rhythms creating immersion through a continued dedication to diversifying their selection, blending genres and atmospheres. The two are also part of La Vallée Electrique (@Melifera_Records) in which they shape a cohesive whole among the artists of the festival. "For Cenote I composed a live environment that is a synthesis of sound spaces I've travelled through and recorded over the last few years. Born of rhythm, my music is also made up of ethereal, sometimes generative, sound spaces. This recording, made up of three main chapters, flows finely, like the water we try to hold in our hands into a crystalline dialogue between the sounds of life and the melodies that flow from them. A delicate journey that I'm delighted to share with you.”

A long time coming, this new chapter in our Podcast Series comes from our dear friend and one of our favourite live artists, dan nicholls. We’d have a hard time counting exactly how many times we’ve seen them concoct their colourful sonic potions, effortlessly merging multi-layered depth with soft playfulness, oscillating between meditative horizontal sounds, spoken word and field recordings and high energy bass infected half & double time dance workouts. To witness an artist in pursuit of their genuine expression succeed in building a world of their own while being versatile and open is a beautiful thing to behold and we feel so lucky to be able to share this little peek into Dan’s workshop, in the form a live set recording from Brussels’ Brasserie Atlas ✨

dan nicholls is a producer and multi-instrumentalist exploring sounds at the crossroads of ambient, electronica, jazz and free improvisation. Over the years, Dan has moved on from a career in jazz, via electronic music, to a heartfelt embrace of rave culture and the feminist and queer theories which are all strongly present in the current iteration of their solo projects and collaborations. With a powerful grasp on world building with, through and beyond sound, they co-curate the London-based Free Movements - a multi-sensory event series hosting genre fluid experimental music performances crossing both acoustic and electronic realms 🔮

In the true spirit of their highly collaborative workflow ~ always in the process of making with and through people and other-than-human critters, culture & politics ~ this improvised recording features voices of tyroneisaacstewart, Lauren Kinsella, Juju Love, Moor Mother, Gillie Nicholls, Janet Blake and Palestinian activist whose words contribute in different ways to amplifying of marginalised ideas. And it seems that for every word, there is a sound to match, a little something that carries its weight, gives it a warm embrace and lets it slip in our ears with tenderness and gravity to be remembered through feeling. There’s only one way to know and that’s to press play and listen 🐚

Chaindata Radio 21 - Sciama

For our March introspective radio show, we had the pleasure of welcoming an old friend of ours, Casper Clark aka Volte-Face to take you through two hours of ambient & downtempo selections from his sizeable collection of music for curious ears 💫

As expected, things got pretty interesting on air at Netil Radio that Thursday afternoon and we are so happy to finally be sharing the recording of the show with you today. It’s a smooth voyage departing from the misty ports of spacious drones and sailing patiently into the deep ocean waters of progressive half time and dusty alternative experiments ⛵️

Volte-Face, a moniker of BleeD promoter/label-head Casper Clark, was a fixture on the European techno scene from 2014-2019, with his own productions (also as Rote alongside Daniel Avery) appearing on labels such as Semantica, Phorma and Non-Series His BleeD imprint also released material from the likes of Wata Igarashi, DJ Nobu, Refracted and Svreca, and he played regularly for the likes of Berghain, fabric, Tresor and Khidi . After an enforced hiatus , he's started to rear his head again with a recent mix for Oslated and a forthcoming ambient session for Deep Breakfast Series. He's also been hosting his own Through The Wreckage ambient mixtape series on Soundcloud, which is updated regularly.
