After meeting Loe in Osaka last year, and witnessing her perform a mind-bending techno set at a beautiful Muzan Editions x Astral Industries event, we connected through our mutual interest in the power of ambient music and its unique way of processing emotions. A form of therapy, if you will…

“My hometown, where I was born and raised, is Matsumoto City in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The city is rich in nature, with a view of the Japanese Alps mountain range.

It is a cold area, and when I was a child, it was not unusual to have heavy snowfalls. At night, when there is a lot of snow as far as the eye can see, it is quiet. The snow reflects the moonlight, and the sky becomes bluish and faintly bright.

The big tree that I could see from my room, which was usually swaying in the wind, was covered with snow and quiet on such a day.

It was a very lyrical scene, even to my childish mind, and I felt a sense of awe and fear mixed with affection, which made me wonder. But I felt somewhat lonely, and I didn’t want the morning to come. I was more inclined to bury myself in the silence forever.

I put the original landscape of my heart into this mix. Please enjoy.” - Loe

~~ About Loe ~~

Loe was born in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, and is the grandniece of avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama. She started her career as a techno DJ in the Kansai region in 2005, and after appearing at DOMMUNE supporting techno heavyweight Reeko's first solo gig in Osaka, she expanded her activities to the whole of Japan. She organises an ambient event known as "SLOWMOTION", in collaboration with AOKI takamasa and Endurance. Her storytelling development and layering techniques are her specialities, and her play style, which maximises the trippy immersive feeling that is the real appeal of techno music, has gained enthusiastic support from the scene.

And when it does happen—when things finally do "fall into place"—the moment is often quieter, more anticlimactic than we imagine. Not a triumphant crescendo, but a subtle, almost imperceptible shift. You look around and realize: Oh, is this it? Is this what I’ve been waiting for? The pieces are in place, but perhaps you’re not.

Andreas, who has been present since our very first party, is responsible for mix number 25 on Discos Movimiento. Titled "When Things Fall Into Place," the mix reflects his tendency to delve into electronic music's mental and sensory depths. Andreas creates a vortex where genres like ambient, deep psy, deep techno, psychedelia, trance, IDM, and bass converge. Through melancholic, textured, and hypnotic sounds, he captures the essence of the title: a harmony that emerges when everything falls into place. Inspired by the mystical landscapes of his native Scandinavia, the mix offers an immersive, meditative, and reflective experience that transports the listener to a space where the abstract and the tangible meet.

It's an honour to present the first edition of the Space Cast mix series by good friend and wonderful human, Eric aka Lava Brain (@lava-brain). Eric is an exceptionally talented dj, producer and live visual artist. This year he released his debut single on his Bandcamp featuring two very distinct tracks, one of them a 19 minute long ambient exploration. Eric has created a stunning mix simultaneously capturing a sense of lightness and depth which has you drifting through subtle shifts in consciousness.

'I really love the concept for this mix series, diving into and appreciating the spaces between spaces, as well as the reflexive nature of the creation of art. Slowing down and getting lost in the spaciousness of music has been a great source of escape and solace for me this year. Spending less time listening to club-focused music has also inspired me to spend more time reflecting in nature and experimenting with some production of my own, using organic field recordings as a catalyst. Thanks to Space Cast Melbourne for allowing me to share this side of my music collection, putting together this mix felt like a meditative experience for me.'
